Mouth

In various states of teeth

When I think about drawing the mouth, I think about the teeth. They're the foundation for everything else, which is why people w/o teeth have that sunken collapsed look. Lips wrap around teeth, and teeth are a round form like your skull, which means lips follow that curve (run your finger over your mouth and notice the path it follows).

When the mouth opens, it doesn't move directly down; it's in an arc created by the anchoring of the jaw to the skull. I'll illustrate this idea in the expressions page, it's one of those things you know inherently but don't think to implement until you observe it

"M" flattened is the stock shape for lips, though they can be modified or simplified in just about any way. Facial features are all their own little playgrounds and you can go wild on those monkey bars
