Movie Oubliette Podcast on 'Lifeforce'

I recently appeared on the Movie Oubliette podcast to talk about Toby Hooper's space vampire fiesta Lifeforce, which was more interesting but no less flawed than I remembered. I'm a big fan of this show. The idea is to watch and discuss a movie that bombed, and then decide whether it should be released from the cultural oubliette (which Google taught me is a type of dungeon).

I think the longer "European Edition" is the better watchβ€”it gives a bit more context to Steve Railsback's Col. Carson, along with Peter Firth's Col. Caine, and some of the more absurd moments are clearly meant to be comical. The film's debt to Nigel Kneale is also more pronouncedβ€”it plays like the very expensive pilot to a Quatermass-like series starring Railsback and Firth as an ex-U.S. astronaut and a British SAS officer dealing with space-based threats that make up human mythology.

That's a shame. I really love lifeforce as a movie. I went in expecting to enjoy it an a so bad it's good way but ended up just really enjoying it.

WOW. They are BRUTAL. Especially her. I'm not denying some of the issues it has. If you're a fan of this one, sorta of a bummer to listen to 😭 Thankfully Rob was there to add a bit balance.
