Major Channel Changes

I have been trying to figure out a way to combat the problems I am having with youtube and its various bots and with my tight restrictions on time and infrequent downloads and I have come up with a solution.

The measure I am taking from this point will be to release larger videos in multiple parts. This does three major things for the channel:

1. It takes away the sledgehammer like pain I feel when a 40 minute video gets flagged and I make 10 dollars in ad revenue. This has happened to every video I have uploaded since the Drug War video and the channel has only stayed afloat because of the 5 Thing I Hate video doing absolute gangbusters. (I have no idea why that vid is so popular)

By splitting the videos up, one section of a video might get flagged, but next weeks video might not, so the pain and anxiety I feel uploading the video is much less intense.

2. I am able to spend much more time on a smaller video, working on research for longer periods of time, and polishing and tackling much more complex video design than I would have been able to do with larger, more complex videos. I expect that taking this tactical approach to design will allow me to take riskier design choices, and even include more animation and when the time comes, interviews (which I am eagerly awaiting the opportunity to do).

3. Uploads will be more frequent. My goal is one a week, but at worst, I will be back to my previous schedule of one every two weeks.

Why I am really writing this, however, is because I want to let you, the Patron, know that I will not be charging you for any of this. I won't even be charging when I release the full, compiled version of the videos. My reasoning on this is simple.

My goal is to use Patreon only to fund my videos and move away from ads entirely. So until we reach the first goal for the Patreon, I won't be charging you.

Once that goal is met, all videos, even old ones, will be ad free (unless some asshole claims it).

Please let me know how you feel about this in the comments below, and let me know how this affects your future patronage.

And thank you so much for your support over this last year. It has meant the world to me and really keeps me going when I feel down.
