July 2025 Devlog

This will be a little different from the last few newsletters. First off, I need to begin with an apology for not implementing as much as I was hoping to on Monthly Build 5. I had a lot going on in my personal life this month, and I couldn't find the focus I needed to concentrate on the game. Also, due to this, I'd rather leave out the personal section of this month's post, hence the return to form by making this a pure devlog.

I did manage to round out the few remaining rooms of the Sunken Chasm, deeming the area completely explorable. Along with this, I also drew & implemented the area's unique setpiece sprites for certain rooms. To be honest, I'm not all that happy with the area, as it feels a lot more samey than the previous two sections of the game. Likely due to the mostly uniform tileset, though, I hope the enemy variety and setpieces break up the area.

Honestly, something that bothers me is how 'unsexy' the game really is, for a porn game. I've been thinking about pushing it into a more, well, erotic direction going forward. Something I'm worried about though is how... Disinterested? I am in making straight/fem. oriented porn. Generally, I haven't been getting much feedback at all for either straight drawings or the game itself, which has made development feel very lonely.

Because of these factors, I haven't been very excited at all to work on the game. It doesn't feel right dropping it due to having this Patreon, and it also wouldn't feel right changing it due to the negative feedback I got the one time I floated the idea of changing Naomi into a male or futa protagonist. I don't know, it's just a shitty situation to be in since I can't conjure up any real inspiration for Skantish at this point, which makes the whole thing feel contrived to me. I just don't have any drive to continue what's here or build off of it in any truly inspired way, and that's made me very depressed. This lack of motivation, in turn, has only made me feel even worse for not being able to deliver as well as I know I can.

If the last however many devlogs are anything to go on, this post probably won't get any interaction or feedback, besides being a reason for people to drop their subs. Which, is probably deserved honestly. Sorry for being such a downer, but it's just how I've been feeling lately.

Oh, also it's my 25th birthday today.
