My First Time Hearing... Radiohead - In Rainbows (Uncut)

A reaction 17 years in the making.

This ended up being quite an emotional video, but perhaps not in a typical way. It's certainly a privilege to be able to share this with you.

As much as a I enjoy reacting to new music and sharing those moments with you, there's so much power in connecting to the essence of the 'milion ghosts', as I mention in the video.

I hope you enjoy the video

Love Radiohead! If you get around to doing "King of Limbs" Watch the "In the Basement" live version. In my (and many others) opinion its far better than the album version and it has three great singles. The Daily mail, Staircase and (after the credits) Supercollider, these were not on albums but should have been. A must watch in my opinion and I would love to see what you think.

Albert Micklethwaite

Dude I never knew you loved Tool? They gotta be my favourite band of all time. In a way it sucks knowing you aren’t going to do a reaction to an album of theirs then 😂

L Z1036

oh my god this one went under my radar

Jordan Oconnor

What's interesting, is I believe the true core of the channel and the audience, is music that deeply moves people. Whether it's rap, pop, rnb, or rock and indie. That is thr through line, and that's what I am always searching for. So I will be doing more rock and indie for sure, because that's the connection I (and the viewers) are looking for.

Jon Denton

I’m not gonna lie, only about half of the songs on this album musically resonate with me but the ones that do are incredible. Weird fishes is gorgeous

John Rich

You should totally do more indie/rock records! I know hip hop gets the views but man there’s so many other incredible records out there that we all know you would connect with. There’s def a loyal base of us that love seeing you connect with alt rock music that may be less popular but that seemingly impacts you deeper than some of the more popular music of today.

Liam johnston

This is a special video Jon, hope to see more radiohead on here in the future!

Matt

Love how you express the deep sense of unease this album can give you even though it seems so pristine on the surface. Looking forward to watching your Radiohead journey

Kid B

Two of the best. My favorite album and my favorite reactor! I joined the subscription for this video!

Aaron Rodriguez

This is one of my favorite reactions you've done

Noah Newcomb

This album changed me as a person and informed my youth in a lot of ways, and is still with me to this day. Was amazing and felt like such a honor to witness this listening with you.

Trent Tellier

my favourite reaction of yours has always been blonde by frank ocean but this video was definietly a contender. i'd love to hear you talk more about elliott smith

Thomas McGarry

Quite literally less than a month ago, I just started listening to Radiohead and this was the first album I listened to. Truly an amazing album and experience. I’m glad that you had a big reaction to it and I hope you find out what you’re feeling soon.

Kody Jakab

This is awesome!!!

Noah Newcomb

Delighted to hear about you believing this is the start of a journey with this album. This album has been with me for a colossal range of experiences over the past decade+, from some of the best moments of my life to a solace in some of the most difficult. Brilliant reaction as usual.

I barely know the lyrics to most of my favourite songs and albums lol - I tend to pay less attention to them when it’s not rap, as so often they’re there to, as you say, convey mood and emotion or just sound good.

Jon Denton

First ever Radiohead/NAV comparison in history 😂 I know what you mean though - music is so tied to experience and emotion. Instead of trying to disconnect from those things, I’m trying to lean into them even more. It’s why I don’t consider myself a music critic - I’m just a voyager.

Jon Denton

Yes we will be covering other records. I started here because it was the biggest request across all genres, but also I do know a lot of the OK computer songs so it would be less of a ‘first listen’

Jon Denton

I don’t think I said that? I said this was just the start of the relationship with the album - I’ll be listening to it for the rest of my life

Jon Denton

I really appreciate how much you let the music just take you on a journey. I've seen some other reactors focus more on the lyrics on first listens, and I think it takes away from what Radiohead and bands like them are trying to achieve in their music. Using beautiful instrumentation, singing, and soundscapes to convey emotions rather than select words or phrases

ethan beethen

You said that you might not see yourself constantly coming back to the album in the distant future. Do you think you’d at least come back for songs like Jigsaw falling into place?

Ruiza

Perfect album and jigsaw falling into place is my all time favorite song 🙌

Devinsl

This album and band mean so much to me on a spiritual level and I'm so pleased to see you felt that too. Please continue to explore Radiohead, Moon Shaped Pool or Kid A next would be wonderful. I personally think Kid A should be listened to after OK Computer though, if you haven't, just to understand the context of such a dramatic change in sound. Anyways, music is beautiful isn't it, looking forward to more reactions.

Jamie Lee

definitely my number 1 or 2 album aot

Riley

Kid A next?

When I first heard this on a subway in undergrad, I instantly knew it was going to be my favourite album of all time. Still true 10 years later If interested in digging further, many ways to explore lore of the discography. Feel free to message me for my opinion. Also consider checking out the “In Basement” session for this album, immaculately recorded performances on video of many of these songs and others.

Almag

Happy to see you love House of Cards. Such an underrated track.

Colby Kultgen

I’ve only listened to one album from Radiohead and so far I’m loving this. I can somewhat relate to your experience in school growing up my brother his favorite rapper was NAV. I’d hear NAV on the way to school, on the way back, going out to do things, etc. He loves him so much he bought NAV CDs to play in his car. I feel if in 10-15 years I was to sit down and listen to NAV I’d come away liking a lot of it and getting why people like his music. Right now you couldn’t pay me to listen to his music it’s too much of a earworm.

John Coffey

So glad you enjoyed jigsaw so much on first listen, my favorite radiohead song

harrison carter

This was stunning to see in my inbox. Probably my favourite album of all time, I can't wait to see your reaction to this!

Eloise

OMG

Colby Kultgen

The universe is trying to tell you something

Jon Denton

the irony of me revisiting this album for the first time in years when I get this notification is crazy
