Mk.gee - Two Star & The Dream Police Uncut Exclusive Reaction

I gotta be honest, this is a must-see reaction. I live for music that takes me to another place.

Hopefully you'll give Jai Paul another listen if you enjoyed this. Think there's some similarities

Loved the reaction. Gotta check out Clairo-Charm sometime, I know you'd love it

Erick

jon you might have to react to his live versions of these songs lol, he released them on his channel as the album was coming out and they are next level. ive seen him live twice, he and dijon and their bands are the best artists ive ever seen

Fuck that do Sahbabii new album. AOTY

Jakob Roloff

Please check out Sahbabii’s new album, you probably don’t know his music that much but he really one of the underground goats

And the single Coogie - co produced by Mike too

Second this. Dijon’s Absolutely is definitely less ethereal but feels familiar all the same

The unique sonic choices that were throwing you off are as you said deliberate but I think they chose these because it simply sounds quite nice. I actually really enjoy it compared to the modern ultra produced and perfectly crisp mixed sound you find and most mainstream releases. This also wasn’t a mainstream release but had the luck and talent to blow up like it has. But yah I hope the unique atmospheric raw sonic choices he makes on this album connect with you on more listens cuz I truly love this album.

Nice to see you cover this one, it's quietly become my go-to "comfort food" album this year. There's such a unique vibe to it. Will there be a reaction for the new Geordie Greep? It's one of the most insane rock albums you'll hear all year

Beautiful album… gets better after every listen! - gotta listen to Absolutely by Dijon now JD!!

I beiieve Mk.gee himself said that he wanted this to sound extremely liminal, something you recognise but really shouldn't, and to me that makes sense as it feels like something I would've heard playing in the car as a kid but with modern elements and a completely out of left-field mixing style (as you mentioned) that I've never heard before, creating this dissonance that is so satisfying - btw it really does get better every listen and he's even better live!

Samir Abdullah

hey jon since you loved this so much someone i really think you should check out is dijon! him and mk.gee work together all the time on production on each other's records and he's how a lot of people found mk.gee originally. he only has one album called absolutely and its really highly praised and one of my personal favorite albums of the decade so far. i think you'd really connect with it!
