2023-05-23 02:39:33 +0000 UTCAt the time of release I loved/ really liked this album. 6 years later….most of this album I do not go back to admittedly….however Walk on Water, Like Home, In Your Head, Castle & Arose I’ve listened to hundreds of times. Amazing songs…that now….I can’t lie…even as the biggest Stan….I wish were it’s own EP. But without question the album overall is WAAAAAY over hated and unappreciated with the best songs on the album.

I don’t think his discography is nearly as much of a plummet as people like to think because it really isn’t but yeah I can see why this album got destroyed. I know you say he sounds “bored” on his newer stuff but I would disagree, he just seems content and having fun and I’m here for it

2023-03-15 04:14:15 +0000 UTCAs an Eminem fan who listens to his music pretty much everyday, conceptually the album is bad because it’s absolutely all over the place tone wise he goes from one subject to the next constantly, I think it’s his worst album overall too, the only songs I still listen to are Walk on Water, River, Framed, Castle & Arose, I wouldn’t care if I never heard the rest of it again tbh. It would be really interesting for someone to sit down with Eminem and ask him what his thought process was when making this album and putting it together how it is.

Walk On Water, In Your Head, Castle and Arose (and believe if it wasn’t produced so badly…) are the few highlights in an otherwise miserable listen.

The other songs from this album I like and actually listen to are Bad Husband and Believe. Overall, this is easily his worst album. I don't think any of his other music is remotely close to this bad. Not Encore, that was just a bad stretch of 5 songs or so. Even the music he made after this that I don't like on mtbmb side b sounds a lot better than this to me at least in production

But listening to this in one sitting is so much of a drag I actually had to download a "fixed" version that cut like 6 songs and it's a much more fun listen

And honestly that's because of Beyonce, maybe I'm just not a fan of hers but her chorus doesn't go with this imo, I would have preferred a short chorus from Em himself or just a song without a chorus

But I can also admit that this album as a whole is bad. With that sad, Castle and Arose are S Tier Eminem songs and will unfortunately never be appreciated as they should be because they're on Revival.

2023-02-28 00:48:44 +0000 UTCHilarious when you checked out midway thru the album, but very happy it didn't deter you from appreciating the final two tracks 😂😂 While I doubt you'll revisit it I will suggest relistening to the 3rd-last-track again one day (the Zombie-sampled In Your Head)! It actually had a top tier rhyme scheme throughout the whole 2nd verse, all while still making his strong message make sense. Serves as a perfect prelude to Castle/Arose. Least imo he did good not to "stain" such a legendary Cranberries track First track and last three tracks (plus Bad Husband even if chorus was meh and Believe even if the mixing was meh) were the ones I legit liked/loved, and I'm still kind of irritated they were all on a subpar album which is why they get overlooked. I agree that an EP with just its best/most personally significant songs would have been better Can't wait for Kamikaze! Much more fun (and much shorter)
