Black Country, New Road - For The First Time UNCUT REACTION (Patreon Early Access)

Is this the best band in the last ten years?

One last comment. The guys started touring again last week with Tyler Hyde taking the majority of the lead vocals and bringing some of her solo stuff (Tyler Cryde) to the band. Here's a link to a full recording of the first show of the tour: https://soundcloud.com/user-463693491/bcnr-live-paterns-brighton-19052022

This is also worth listening to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwcew10n-yk Nervous Conditions was Black Country, New Road before they were BC,NR. The lead singer at the time (not Isaac) left after allegations of sexual assault. They then rebranded afterwards.

JON you need to listen to clipping. again! I saw that you listened to work work a while ago but you need to get onto their albums still. CLPPNG is probably a good album to start with but they also released 2 very good horror themed albums in 2019 and 2020.

Jeremy Vedire

Cavalcade by Black Midi gotta be soon. Also, they’re getting ready to release another album in July.

Ryan Severson

Self titled and Helplessness Blues are indie classics no doubt about that

Jeremy Hebert

Unrelated but Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues is a must here homie

Jon, also along with Black Midi Id reccomend you check out Slint's "Spiderland". They're the band this band was often was referred to as their closest influence. It's a legendary album. Also I'd reccomend "The Glow Pt. 2" which is my favorite Indie/Rock album of all time. It's a very emotional one though.

Jon, I'm sure a lot of people are going to ask you to listen to the original versions of "Athens, France" and Sunglasses. So here's some links for them. Athens France - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rs0M47tE4rs Sunglasses - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAZhzi9cpkc

Ona1000 .

I Disagree, I much prefer the newer Sunglasses version. However, I prefer the rawness of the vocals and lyrics on the original version of Athens, France by a bit though.

Ona1000 .

There are a lot of people who consider this the superior of the 2. I disagree but they exist. I heard one podcast that absolutely slandered AFUT and called it "crescendo core" and they aren't wrong but I found it pretty upsetting lol

Josh Burcham

I still don't get why they chose that version of Sunglasses for the album, it's borderline unlistenable compared to the single, legit sounds like a parody.

Ye cavalcade by black midi is a must

Harry Wagman

YES you have to react to Black Midi

Jakob

I view the two albums as two sides of the same Gen Z coin, with the first being outwardly menacing, awkward and anxious while the second one is inwardly vulnerable, fragile and heartfelt.

Priam

My exact same reaction when hearing this for the first time Hope to see you react to Black Midi some day! They have a cross demographic of fans. From black midi’s first album expect the strange time signatures and chaotic nature of these songs but even more elaborated. Less emotional and more fun and off the walls with a quirky singer

Justin

Hey Jon, just wanted to let you know this video was awesome and I'm so glad you covered this band. Can't wait to see you delve deeper into some more bands like this. Hopefully we can see you get to Car Seat Headrest at some point!
