2025-07-24 18:02:50 +0000 UTCYeah Roswaal is one scheming sob. He wants Subaru to focus on helping Emilia, and sacrifice everything else, even himself, for the sake of that goal. Which is a massive contrast to what Satella and the other witches had just told Subaru - to Love himself, to think of the feelings of others and that you don't have to struggle alone. We already know from Season 1 that Roswaal intends to kill the Dragon, which is most likely why he's backing Emilia in this Royal Selection. So with the knowledge of the future with his book and the useful tool of Return by Death to retry everything over and over until we get the outcome we want.. yeeah Roswaal seems like he's trying to groom Subaru into the perfect tool of sacrificing everything for the goal. Hence why he's set up this whole thing with the mansion and the sanctuary - to force Subaru into a position where he has no choice but to choose one (Emilia and the Sanctuary) and sacrifice the other.
