2025-03-16 03:23:26 +0000 UTCI think this is pretty much confirmed at this point - they were going to do 3 albums, but due to circumstances beyond their control, they had to mash the MotS: Shadow and MotS: Ego albums into one album - so that's how we got MotS: 7. Even in a lot of the behinds in the fall of 2019, RM was stressed about the "delay" and one of the reasons he was so stressed in BV4 was because he thought he had more time to work on the songs that would be going into Ego, and instead had to finish them sooner.

It's interesting that in the beginning, after the lyric video, you described the song as "so much going on", had "chaotic like sounds", it "felt like a lot for my ears", "it was a flood going on", and "almost impossible to keep up". Almost like the song itself depicts "ritual madness" or "religious ecstasy"....like Dionysus. 😉

2025-03-15 10:09:57 +0000 UTCI absolutely believe that the primary plan was to release map of the soul as an album trilogy with map of the soul: persona, map of the soul: shadow and map of the soul: ego as three separate albums. I just feel like everything points to it. They’ve always done albums in threes (school trilogy, hyyh trilogy, love yourself trilogy). And it just feels like choosing jungs concept, which as we know is in three parts, as the main storyline would’ve made the most sense if divided into three bodies of work. Not to mention the rappers solos being focused on said three parts, and considering the fact that the intros was almost exclusively sung by the rappers in the past - it just feels like the first intention and plan was to do a trilogy. I absolutely looove map of the soul: 7, it’s definitely their best album for me, so don’t get me wrong here. But it would’ve been soooo interesting to see how they would’ve done this concept as a trilogy. I don’t know if anyone agrees with my theory or not but I find it interesting 🤪
