🔧Devlog 17 – Hobbies, Rooms, and the Road to 30k Words!!

Last time I checked, I was at 28k words... And since then, I've written Harry's content among others... Let's see if I check again soon... But I really wanted this to be at least a double patch. Not only would it be a great pleasure for me to achieve more than 30k words in a single patch, but it would also feel like a great way to thank you for your support.

I won't always be able to do it like this, especially since the next patches will be more technical and visually demanding. But when the time comes, we'll see ;)

But what else can I show you today... Well… Actually a lot xD

Harry

In this patch, it's possible to talk with Harry, Matt, Diego, and even with a new character alone. I've already started writing Harry's solo part, just need to finish it. But maybe I can show you a small preview where that will happen.

New Character Customization - Hobbies and Occupations

I've always wanted to let you customize your character a bit, as well as their past. You can already do this through secrets and by defining whether Ren preferred fighting or teaching MMA.

But this is the evolution and the step forward of that. Players will choose hobbies that may, I repeat, may unlock new content and options. For now, this system can be seen and tested at some points in the new patch. 

One of them is with Lucas. Whenever you choose a hobby, it will be highlighted in parentheses like this, as you can see in the image. 

But you can test this system more deeply in the patch by speaking with Harry alone since he will ask you about them. There's even a special CG of Harry in a combination of these choices (my favorite so far xD). But since it's hard to get, I thought I should tell you to those who like to collect scenes so they know where it might be ;)

In total, there are 16 hobbies, things like cooking, taking care of plants, music, competitive games, water sports, etc.

If you like this type of customization, more can be added in the future.

But speaking of customization:

New Rooms

Based on community feedback and at the request of the team, 3 new rooms were added and the grey one got a lift-up. Alex helped immensely in this process, being responsible for making the night variations, as well as the code, saving me more than a day on this. The appearance of the rooms may change until the patch launch.

Grey Room -> Grey Sports Room

This room is no longer basic and became sports-related. Hence the bag.

Yellow Room -> Kawaiiiii

Some of you want to be kawaii, so this specific room for you with plushies.

Black Room

This was an attempt to make a gothic room requested by you. But I had to try to make it fit the TrueClash world. It came out as a black room that I think works for many things. Rock, metal, dark, painting, etc. Whatever you want to imagine.

Purple - Gaming Room

Combat GUI

Finally I can show you how our combat GUI turned out hehehe

We really like how this turned out and we believe this design makes the game easier to understand and makes the combat GUI something modern and different.

The arrows point to which stance beats which stance, the buttons and bars change color depending on the fighter you're controlling. Ren -> blue, Matt -> wine red, Diego -> green and so on. And the menu itself has a specific entry and exit animation!

This GUI was designed by us and Mark but the implementation and animations were done by rockstar8

Technical Stuff

I changed all image formats to a lighter one where no quality is lost... When it comes to images, most of them reduced by 30% in size, allowing me in the future to add more images without worrying so much about the game's size ^^

Fixed a lot of bugs that Alex, Viv and Mark found out.
