SUGA: ROAD TO D-DAY (Disney+) | Full Reaction!

Comments

it´s always harder to do your own songs as an artist. i think every artist who do their own songs have said that at some point. so i am not surprised that suga feels the same. i also know RM struggled with that too. the thing about BTS is that they do their own stuff. so if they would just quit and buy songs people would be able to tell. like dynamite and butter for instance, the songs is no longer relatable. it´s fine as a good song now and then. but if that is ALL you do as an artist you wont go far. it is the reason why coldplay MJ and the beatles and taylor swift went this far. it also creates loyal fans and you will be able to do music longer. but it also drains the artist more than the other artists who can just buy a song.

leat

It's so fun to rewatch! Yoongi feels wise beyond his years, and I am always astonished that his music always hits twice, once sonically and once again when you read the lyrics. To this day, I cannot pick only one song from D-DAY as my favorite...there is something for every mood, and there is just so much hope. Seeing his moment with Mr. Sakamoto was so touching; when he let out that big sigh in the elevator, I felt that. The conversation felt so deep, and you could feel the admiration from both sides. Mr. Sakamoto seemed so impressed with Suga, which made me feel so proud. I read somewhere something about his daughter going to Suga's concert and seeing the memorial message for her father and feeling like Suga was carrying his father's legacy.

Silvia

You went Day2 in LA? That's the one my daughter and I attended, with Max singing Burn It!!?? It was awesome - Yeah?!💜

Donita Polk

You saying you don't want earplugs immediately made me feel sick (dw its fine) cuz when I went to a TWICE concert and had my ear defenders on I STILL got nauseous from the volume (and possibly the shaking but idr if there was any atm)

Yeah this documentary is the best thing I've seen too. It made me so introspective. What I found really fascinating is comparing it to J-Hope's documentary and the creative process we saw depicted in that. These two men are so different in their thoughts and approaches, but if you really boil it down to the essentials, they have similar themes, motivations and hopes for the world. Also, somehow, they both have incredible work ethic that pushes them as individuals and each other as a group. I was left marvelling at how unique BTS is as a group of 7 individuals who on paper probably should not have worked, and yet somehow, with passion and creative vision and love and hard, hard work, they made it. Snooze was already my favourite track from the album (it was painful for me to figure out if I even had a favourite): it stood out from my very first listen. I honestly didn't know most of the lyrics until I watched this documentary, though I did know it was a letter to newer artists. Man oh man, the lyrics both hit so hard and yet provide such comfort. I feel so loved even when I'm not in the field he's referencing. If I can make a single person feel like the way SUGA makes me and everyone else feel with his lyrics, I have lived a good and meaningful life. I'm so glad his moments with Ryuichi Sakamoto were recorded and shared with us - you could feel the significance of the moment - and that you guys loved it as much as I did. Greatest respect to Ryuichi Sakamoto-san; I hope he is resting with peace and never-ending music.

Jen Roe⁷

I ended up watching the documentary along with you guys for the first time and wow. School's been having me busy so it was also the first time I could read some of the lyrics to a few songs and if I already loved Snooze before reading the translation I sure love it even more now. I always have so much respect for their hard work and always leave these documentaries inspired/motivated. In other news, I FINALLY GOT A RESALE TICKET TO SEE YOONGI IN LA DAY 2! A kind ARMY couldn't go and offered me her ticket for a good price, so now I'm even more excited after watching this documentary!

Fernanda

Just finished your reaction. It was so fun to watch it with you again. I loved to attend the creative process with his struggles about the lyrics. We could see this in Hobis documentary, too. I think the songs where they struggle the most are very special in the end. I also love his relationship with the other artists. Especially his respect for his long-standing role model Mr. Sakamoto, who won an Oscar and two Golden Globes for his music. After listening countless times listen to D-Day I can't name favorite song. As always there are so deep meanings. I already look forward to your deep dive into the lyrics. At this time doolset already had translated 7/9 songs. Borahae! 💜

They grown in muddy waters and turn into beautiful flowers

MeowMeow

I haven't read all the comments but in case it wasn't clear, Thirty (30) is Polar Nights. Listen closely for the beat he made from the original and you will hear it.

MeowMeow

Just to clarify, BTS isn't breaking up, didn't break up and will not break up. They had to do solo work because of their military service, as they can't be whole as a group until 2025. That's why, they decided to use this time to create their own music, make improvements, and talk about their own stories. This will make them be even better as a group when they come back in 2025, as all of them would have explored various music styles and brought improvements/new ventures back into the group. As ARMYs we are very clear, almost all of the members mentioned they have ONE dream, and that is to keep performing as a team until they're very old. But when it was announced back then, people still didn't know they were going to serve in the military, and the media made a HUGE DEAL of it. Regardless of them saying that they're not breaking up, not disbanding, articles about their 'disbandment' was everywhere on the cover news, and everyone was blowing up their phones. Haters were celebrating, and people and companies who saw BTS as opponents were fucking happy. This is why in polar night, his lyrics are about how people simply do not care about facts. False accusations just to fit into their narratives, etc. If you listen to Polar night again with these in mind, it's a whole new experience and you get what he's taking about.

Jaeyi

Jared and Jordan... the place that Suga was writing when Jimin came in was in a small camper that they take with them for Soop. The white house that he took the writers to was specifically built for BTS to do a Soop - one of the last ones until ... whenever. Suga is very familiar with the house. Each one had their own room. You need to add the Soops to your list to watch... they are a relaxing vacation for the team.. it was here that Jin took Suga fishing and Tae paddled down the lake singing to Namjoon a love song while he painted... so funny.

Daphne Schaffer

Does anyone out there know how a Lotus flower grows? (I do, just curious if you do and the relevance of it lyrically in this song)

Daphne Schaffer

They never intended to break up... the news media ran with that fake story. Watch the BTS Army Dinner of June 13, 2022, Festa, when they said they would take time off to go to the military and do solo work. They were really upset at the media so JK went on Weverse Live immediately to talk to Army and sing... to let Army know they were not breaking up... ever. RM did a lot of crying, tears just leaked out of his eyes... the stress of confessing to us and fear that we would think such things as a break-up. He was worried and just plain emotionally spent. He needed the break most of all. You can't help but cry too. When he was working on his song Amygdala said he had massive mood swings when working on it... I understand. When I would get through with a counseling session I was extremely depressed, ups and downs for days... and anything or anyone could trigger an avalanche of emotions inside of me. The song is a good counsel for himself to dig it all out and face it. My counselor would advise me to listen to certain songs and movies to watch to trigger it so I could face it. It's amazing how we can counsel ourselves after we have a few tools to work it all out emotionally. After Snooze/Dream... Amygdala was a go-to song for me - I realize how far I have come. I'm sure it will help others to understand and not drown in pain - people need to understand their bodies. The brain fascinates me with all its functions... only God could create such a thing. I am a singer too, at a young age I was wise enough to know that if I hadn't experienced the message of a song I couldn't sing it. I have always chosen story songs that were relevant to me in my experience. It is the only way to convey a truth, you have to know what you are talking about to be believable... that's how I feel about Armygdala. Now with the song Snooze, I have experienced it too. There is more freedom from the past by helping others learn ways to survive and grow... this is a good song too for Suga to perform - it solidifies more and more that he is free - no longer hiding in shame so it has no hold anymore.

Daphne Schaffer

Loooooooved it. I watched it first time with you here guys and I think its the best documentary I've ever seen. So well made and the live music was stunning, the performance with Woosung omg I think I will rewatch this a few times later. Thank you for sharing this guys. Love you and I hope you have the best life at the concert 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Noll⁷

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS! I don't have Disney+ so this was a very special treat to watch it with you! I've tried purchasing from Weverse before and it doesn't work on my computer etc so very grateful to you both. Have a safe trip and enjoy D-Day with Suga (and hopefully Jimin!). It's going to be a wonderful experience I'm sure, glad for you. No UK stops, and I've never been to a BTS concert, so for me that is a wish and a prayer for the future (Ihave my 'marry me Yoongi' t-shirt ready). Borahae! 💜💜

I just heard Jimin and Suga spotted at a New York Bar/cafe…..I’m thinking Tony Montana 🤷🏻‍♀️could make an appearance 💜💜💜💜

Angie7

Have an amazing time at the concert!! This will surely be one to remember!!

Fernanda

I'm with you this is truly the best documentary I've ever seen. Until I found these 7 normal boys from Korea (in my RM voice 😊), I don't think I truly understood the term infinite love. Just when I think my love for them has reached the a peak then something like this documentary comes along and my love for them just gets deeper. Min Yoongi aka Suga aka August D is a phenom. He is such a beautiful person and so inspirational. I love how he is always concerned about the younger ones in the industry as well as those who are trying to get a foothold in it. For someone that says he didn't get enough love growing up he is such a loving and thoughtful person when it comes to others. When he drops the album from when he travels to learn about different native instruments I believe it will be world changing in the music industry breaking down barriers and misconceptions. When you guys get to the BTS series In The Soop (Soop= sup 숲 = woods) you'll get to see more of Suga in a camper working on his music. When I watch the series I wish we could have heard the music he was working on now we know 😁. Thank you guys for this reaction it got me even more hyped for his concert my Mom and I are going to this weekend in New Jersey. In your IG post I mentioned this and now I don't even care if we are the only grandmother and great-grandmother at that concert I will be screaming loud shaking my ARMY bomb and dancing with the music. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 💜💜

Salena G

yes they did look at the video below, oh wait maybe it´s because it´s gold tier. maybe that´s why you can´t see it. But they loved it Jared´s favorite he alsmost cried. it reminded them of their mother.

leat

leat

I've been rewatching In the Soop season 1 recently and this documentary brought it to a whole nother level. My chest feels heavy... I'm worried for him and I hope he enjoys the tour as much as Army. 💜💜💜

Yara

Wait a minute… have you listened to “First Love”?!?

bts

This was really beautiful watching w you. I love how u pay close attention to details even e ones I missed when watching alone. I think suga is brave doing a solo tour, am happy n anxious hw it will turn up 4 him. I hope u ve fan n best experience at e concert. God bless 🙌🙏

Miriam

Woah this was great to watch along with you both. I cried again; once while watching it alone and again with you, during the Ryuichi Sakamoto and Amygdala portions. They mean so much to me for Yoongi being able to meet his inspo as he is for so many of us (Jordan, I’ve been writing music too since last summer cos of Suga and his muse-like quality) and it’s somehow more meaningful to watch you both feel affected by the music, lyrics and meet-ups and feel part of a tribe where we all have enough heart and soul left to appreciate these meaningful moments. We’re not alone, with art like this and people who love it as we do. Thank you for this, and enjoy the show! I cannot wait to hear all about it 💜

Aylaᴿᵖʷᵖ

this is the second time i’ve watched the documentary. but let me just say, both times i cried. not because anything was particularly sad, but seeing yoongi with his idol since childhood and then remembering the post he made on weverse when ryuichi sakamoto passed away… that hits hard. i’m so happy that he got to meet him at least once before he passed on. not only that, but yoongi in general always speaks and explains things in a way that is relevant to other people. which is why his songs hit home for a lot of people. he has a way of making whoever is listening or watching him feel as though he is speaking to them only. making himself equal. he doesn’t regard himself as this multimillionaire, biggest artist on the planet person. he makes himself NORMAL. an average everyday person like you and me because HE IS. he wants us to realize that he is no different than me or you just because of his success. he goes through the same struggles. has the same ups and downs of daily life as anyone else. and i admire him for being as humble as he is. because i think anyone else in his position (or any of the 7 members’ positions) would not be as humble as these 7 men. applause to all who made this. and applause to yoongi for letting us see him vulnerable, when that’s probably one of the last things any human wants anyone else to see. an inspiration. an icon. yoongi is the king himself.

Ellie Rae

my favorite Jordan quote: “care less. eat a chip.”

Ellie Rae

Thank you a million times for this reaction. I agree with everything you said. I am amazed....and you are the best people in the world. I NEEDED THIS💜💜💜

Catia🇵🇹⁷

Jordan your reaction to Snooze live w Woosung... Absolutely loved the vulnerability 🖤🖤🖤

Amani ○°●•7

Loved the reaction! Couldn't agree more with all your thoughts. Have a wonderful time at the concert! Have the most fun and be safe! <3

ENJOY THE CONCERT GUYS 💜

ori

Have fun in New York!!!! I’m going to the NJ concert! 💜💜

Nathalie Del Valle

Guys this was a great reaction!!!! Every BTS official documentaries, Burn the Stage, Burn the Soul etc. are so captivating. You learn so much about them, their work ethic and personal highs and lows. I had previously watched this documentary over the weekend but watching it with you made it so much more enjoyable 🙂 I couldn't stop laughing when Jordan said, "eat a chip" 😆😆 The performances were amazing but my favorite was Amygdala. The interaction between Mr. Sakamoto was so beautiful and endearing it brought me to tears. Knowing he soon after passed away made that moment even more special. I can only imagine how Yoongi felt meeting one of his inspirations. I want to add this. I spent my 20's getting an education began my career, traveled, experienced new things which I learned and made mistakes. In my 30s I started a family. I experienced the loss of my mother and son. Experienced depression and exited a toxic marriage. But I found a new relationship that helped bring me out of that depression, which is BTS. Now I'm in my mid 40s, I am able to enjoy what I worked for in my 20s and 30s, only this time I can afford to do more.😆😆 also I am able to experience new and fun things with my three little sidekicks (my daughters). So don't worry so much about the future and whether or not the fun and good times won't still be there. Believe it or not, I feel happier now. I'm established and more free to do anything and everything I want. Well guys, you're in for a HELL of an experience and I'm soooooo excited for you!!! Go in with no expectations so that if Jimin doesn't show up on stage you won't be disappointed lol. Thanks for this reaction guys, love you💜🫶💜🫶

LizP⁷⁷⁷⁷⁷⁷⁷

enjoy the concert guys, i can't wait to hear about your experience and how you had it!

Suga said he only showed 1/10th of the work he did making this album. He is such a creative genius. I will be at the NJ concert on Saturday night. I can't wait. I hope we get a surprise guest visit from Jimin since he is in NY at the same time.

April Forgue

Yay- it’s almost here! Have the best night - no doubt you will . So happy for you all attending tomorrow’s opening night. I’m sure you will make us all proud! Borahae from California 💜💜stay safe everyone!

Biljana Monteleone

Have an awesome time. Suga did mention the band is going with him!!! Enjoy! So jealous!

lyndsey

I'm glad I saved this documentary to watch with you. It was so much fun! I love seeing Suga enjoys himself and be himself around artists that he considers friends. It's healing and it's everything. Have so much fun at your first ever BTS concert! Drive safe & don't miss your exit while listening to music lol. Scream at the top of your lungs. Enjoy the music, vibration, being around other Army, and this experience. Can't wait to hear all about it!! 💜

Pommosaurus

I looooved this reaction. You guys are so fun to watch! I adore watching your genuine first reactions especially because I am usually right there with you as Baby ARMY! I appreciate how you dig in to the content. You have brought together some of the nicest ARMY that I have had the pleasure of getting to know. (Or read comments from) I hope you have the best time at the concert. This will be my first BTS member concert as well. Looking forward to your reaction of your experience! Be safe. Borahae 💜

LaNita Starr

just a heads up, suga went live today he is a bit sick and the dry air makes him caugh so he said his voice might crack and he apologized for that before hand. but i hope he is getting better.

leat

Coincidently, that instrument IS a haegeum :)

K

Have fun at the concert

thucvu nguyen

Love this!!!💜💜💜

Alicia

I said I thought it was a Cello with the Violins at the end of First Love. I don’t know what that is in Haegeum but it’s probably a traditional Korean instrument. It’s painful to watch the love/hate relationship Yoongi has doing what he loves most but I guess that’s true for most artists. I’m glad he was able to meet, spend time with and collaborate with Mr. Sakamoto before his passing. That’s incredibly sad but special. This was a wonderful documentary. The only other music documentary I have seen that I loved as much was “The Last Waltz” about the last tour of The Band directed by Martin Scorsese. It’s a great film. A must watch for music lovers of any genre. Thanks for this. I hope you come back safely and throughly elevated, liberated and emptied in the best way possible. Jordan start writing down everything whenever a thought comes to mind. Put pen to paper and just let it flow! Love you both 🫶🏻💜💜💣💣😁🇨🇦

Cheryl ⁷ Lambert

Have fun for me at the concert. i couldn’t get tickets when he is coming to Singapore. But the concert will be in June. There is still hope… 😊💜

Shalia

AHHHHHH HAVE FUN AT THE CONCERT TOO!!!!!!! I WISH SO BAD I COULD’VE GONE

Kia

Cannot cannot cannot explain my admiration for Yoongi in words. It’s so heavy so strong that I don’t even fully understand it. I’m not a musician, I’ve lost my passion and reason for the only dream I had (being a writer ) but I’m so inspired by Yoongi to find what’s out there for me. So that I can be just as passionate, just as glued to my passion as him. His wisdom, his attitude, his certainty of himself, his understanding of humanity, and his perception of the world blows my mind. I love him so much. So so much and I wish to be as inspiring as him one day with whatever I end up doing.

Kia

Please share with us how was it and what you felt dooring the concert. So sad I couldnt go!

Enid

Have a blast!

Shana

I'll write my thoughts as I watch! Re: them "almost breaking up" - you're right, you both haven't really gotten into that yet. The issue was that they never said they were disbanding/breaking up. In fact, they used the word "hiatus" in relation to making music as a group (for various inevitable reasons), but I think many people in the world don't know BTS like ARMY does, and started jumping to conclusions and blowing things out of proportion. The difference between BTS and many other groups that have come and gone, is that, BTS always ALWAYS keeps their promises. On top of that, BTS love each other a lot (a little detour but i remember a quote in one of their magazine interviews, which said something like "BTS love each other so much, they don't know what to do (about it)"). So yeah. They want to aim for longevity, and their artistry and ARMY are going to give them that 💜 Chuncheon: if I'm correct, that's where BTS In The Soop Season 1 was filmed :) That trailer bus (idk what it's called) is from In The Soop Season 1. it's a staycation type show (more laid back than Bon Voyage). It's really fun and it makes me feel very relaxed. About walking barefoot in his studio, fun fact! he actually has a sign outside his studio which tells you to remove your outside shoes outside the door ☺️ (source: at the end of one Suchwita episode, he took one of his juniors to show them his studio). he probably has comfy studio slippers hehe. During their "writing cave" as you called it, you see Yoongi say "I should take a photo of Jang Yi Jeong from the back". Jang Yi Jeong is EL CAPITXN, the producer with a lot of producing (and writing) credits all over D-2 and D-Day.

sevenprettyboys

Honestly, it tragically makes sense that he's still trying to prove himself as a producer/writer and wants that recognition. The music industry (particularly the west) still dismiss all the BTS members as a manufactured boy band. It's a tough image to shake, especially given how closed minded the US is to music in other languages... and all they know of BTS is Dynamite.

Seneca

This is what I love about the BTS docs on Disney Plus, they say absolutely nothing that ARMYs don’t already know. For Jack In The Box, we’d seen 90% of the content and know pretty much everything. Road To D-Day… Yeah we learned more on R-wchita with Namjoon and Yoongi talking then the whole of the documentary. I love it, the Disney docs are for general fans who might be interested but BigHit know where to put the things that ARMY will see.

Joy Jenkins

I am soo excited for y'all!!! Can't wait to hear all about it!

Amani ○°●•7

J&J there's a running joke that Yoongi likes to invite himself over to peoples' houses. This would be the 3rd or 4th time we've seen it on camera and it's hilarious. He's just like "y'know if I was invited, I'd love the use the studio that's at your house, so i can drink and use the studio, that's at your house, only if I was invited tho."
