“UGH!” | Extended Reaction (DKDKTV Explanation Video + Rap Line Live Performance!)

ANGER. This song is about misplaced, misdirected, malice-filled anger. It’s about ‘Netizens’ who hide behind the veil of anonymity and use their “Twitter-Fingers” to send hate-filled anger towards BTS, while neglecting the sad reality that they are wasting their time, energy, and LIVES.

Today's video is a continuation of a reaction video that we posted on our YouTube channel, where we listen to “UGH!” for the first time! If you haven't already seen that video, go check it out now and then come back. We'll be waiting for you…

A few takeaways/questions from our extended reaction:

1. This song pulverized our internal organs, and DKDKTV’s explanation video stitched them back together for us.

2. Were RM, Suga and J-Hope professional boxers in their past lives?

3. AHEM…AHEM…

4. Misdirected, spiteful anger leads to self-destruction.

5. Thoughtful, organized, non-wasteful ANGER leads to LOVE.

“UGH!” did indeed make us want to fight! Especially after watching the completely insane “Map of the Soul ON:E” live performance by the rap line. The green laser lights serving as the outline of a boxing ring, the gloves, the attire, the FIRE. This was a highly energetic and stimulating performance, and one that left us asking: does BTS craft a different choreographed performance for every single song they perform live??

ARMY, as always, we truly appreciate your love and support (WE’LL CONTINUE SAYING THIS UNTIL THE END OF TIME). Your subscription allows us to produce higher-quality reaction videos, and moves us closer to our goal of doing this full-time! Let us know if you have any questions, feedback, thoughts, etc. at any time! BORAHAE!! 💜💜

I don't know if you guys have watched MOTS ON:E yet but it is seriously such a great concert production wise. Like I'm sure BTS would much rather have had a live audience in a stadium, but they took advantage of the fact that they had the ability to do some very unique stages for the MOTS ON:E. IF you haven't seen it, I have the entire thing on my unlisted Vimeo account and you can watch here. I've also subtitled the songs themselves on this. MOTS ON:E Day 1 & Day 2 Individual performances. https://vimeo.com/800301127/2fd513275d?share=copy MOTS ON:E Day 2 complete https://vimeo.com/802100161/c696dc5812?share=copy MOTS ON:E Making of Videos https://vimeo.com/803008117/0df58c04e1?share=copy I have other videos if you're ever looking for full performances let me know, I don't list them because I don't want them to be deleted. But anyone can watch these if you want to.

I absolutely love the point you made about the fact that BTS uses their anger to better themselves by fueling their music which is their career. I had never thought of it in those terms and I really appreciated it. It actually makes a lot of sense, because even they were saying that it's ok to be angry when you have something to be angry about, so the fact that BTS gets so much hatred is certainly something they legitimately have a right to be angry about, and yet instead of just aimlessly being angry or like so many netizens as was said they don't go to the internet and post responses or even talk about it in interviews. They use that anger in a way that they will actually benefit from. That is actually genius. I shouldn't be surprised, but thank you for sharing that perspective, because I'd honestly never really thought of it in those terms before.

Sherry A

hi guys I just beacame a patreon a few days ago and I am currently binging all your reactions and I'm really enjoying the content ;) love from France <3333

Spoty

Hi guys! I’m finally getting around to this video and it’s absolutely amazing! Maaan! That gentleman was spot on. A breakdown so deep and informative. So many great points you both shared as well. Jared, you were on a roll 😉 Anger can definitely be one’s upheaval or downfall if not executed properly. The beat (always bass for me) was the first thing that caught my ear with UGH! Undoubtedly the musician in me ☺️(alto sax + drums) thanks to great teachers in my Uncles and my big brother. I’m a learn by ear type of person. Can’t read music sheets to save my life 😂 now self-teaching in the zither as well as the Native American mini flute and Chinese bamboo flute. Anyway, Bangtan are geniuses! I love how they transfer their all into the music. That’s one of many things that makes them so GRAND. It’s just who they are 💜💜💜 the live performances truly capture me but I also enjoy watching them with you guys later on. Maybe, you can alternate between the live performances, color lyrics/translation videos. Or just leave as is cuz if it ain’t broke……..y’all know the rest!😉 BORAHAE! 💜

Katina Ixchel

LOVED IT!!! I honestly like the way you have been doing it. But may be it can be 1. Video/color lyrics (if not video) 2. Translation & understanding of the sing 3. Live performances. I love it when you guys leave the best for last. ☺️

Kirssy Mago

Tbh, I really don't listen to rap. But I began to because of BTS. Their words are something. Their take on anger in Ugh is eye opening and they are so right! It's what the saying, "Pick your battles", clearly means. They are really brilliant. 💜💜💜💜💜 Can't wait for you to listen to Outro: Tear.

Lane. L.

i understand what you said about live performances at the end as they certainly hit different but i’d still recommend saving live versions of songs for last for multiple reasons. you can get a better understanding of the message they’re trying to get across with the live version if you’ve already seen the lyrics or an explanation for the song and with a lot of their concert performances they change the song and perform a remixed version live so you won’t be reacting to the original version of the song if that makes sense

cait

Regarding the order you react to new music, I think its up to you. Although I haven't experienced it with bts, I have watched live performances from artists and then didn't enjoy the studio version as much because it was a different vibe. So I generally listen to mv/studio version before live performances. But I don't think that's a set rule. If you have a specific live performance (of maybe a melody or series of songs) that's you're dying to get to, I don't think you have to wait to listen to the studio version first.

jordyn perry

For Jimtober and you want something similar to ugh / ddaeng, I recommend AGUST D feat Jimin "Tony Montana". Bring out hardcore Jimin!

Tara 아미_큐티_섹시_러블리

Live reactions really take songs to the next level. I don’t think there’s a wrong or right way to react, live reaction first or last you’ll still enjoy it! I would recommend Zero O’Clock or The Truth Untold for the vocal line

Daniela

When I was younger and got angry, I was told by a teacher/mentor that anger is the most intelligent emotion because you see the injustices and how things should be differently. He also told me that in order for our anger to serve its purpose and not go “overboard”, we have to keep a ‘just duration’ (are you holding onto your anger too long or do you get angry and let it go when it’s served it’s purpose), we have to have a ‘just degree’ (don’t blow up a little thing. Our anger should be in a good proportion to what we’re reacting to - Karen’s usually fail at this one) and I am completely blanking on the third one! Haha! Anyway, I love this song because it points some of that out. Thanks for y’all’s reactions!

Erin

💯 agree 🔥🔥

Great reaction💜💜💜 Now I have 4 favorite days in a week😚 Not only Saturday💜 and Sunday😆 Added Tuesday and Thursday.. #J&JreactionDAYS 💜💜💜

justjhen

Thanks again for another great reaction 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 💜💜

Salena G

Also for Jimin’s birthday you HAVE TO react to Serendipity!!! It’s SOOO good! 😊

bts

I think you could react to some performances first but those would have to be the ones army recommends watching the live performances first on. I think it would be better if you did most of the reactions the way you’ve been doing (the music first and the live later) ❤️

bts

Before we you leave 2014 Please react to Let Me Know. So so gooooood. https://youtu.be/LVoDcb6JcbE Vocals are delish 🌌🟪🟣🖤💫

Amani ○°●•7

Think it would be cool to watch 1 live performance in the beginning (an older one) and then to finish it off with a recent live performance!

Shadow Swan

Hi guys! Love your reaction as always! I learn something new every time! Today I learn about CTE! hahah Ddaeng vs Ugh vs Outro: Tear all three songs have different emotions, I can't really compare them to each other. I have a very strong feeling about one of the three on different occasions 😂 Personally, I think Outro: Tear is very emotional and feels very personal to BTS (some members' comments on the song suggest the same). So, knowing BTS history will give more context to that emotion. Maybe you can save it for later after you watch more episodes of TRoB. But of course, the song can be interpreted in other ways outside of BTS context.

Rongrong

In essence, the correct use of anger would be to make social change come about. Equality, discrimination need to be fought with anger. However, in today’s climate anger is being diffused as it is being used for mundane things like you don’t like someone or their music. Soon, anger will no longer have the impact that it had during the Civil Rights movement , woman’s suffrage movement, etc.

When I think of Jimin, his voice is very distinct and special. But Jimin the dancer is probably what I love most about him. For his birthday, here are some “older videos” of Jimin dancing. as they say, "once you jimIN, you can't jimOUT.

Supercrab49

..its the "you be the waves ill be the machine gun" ... Sigh ... then switching it up cause Jordan can't do a machine 🔫 sound 😅😅😅

Amani ○°●•7

I’ve loved going on this journey with you guys. It’s been so fun watching you start to notice all of BTS little nuisances. I think with every reaction video I’m learning more about these songs I’ve already loved so much. I’m now finding myself getting attached to your nuances as well 😂. Whenever you guys go on these random tangents like finding out how to say Ugh! And spend so much time debating on the littlest things cracks me up so much. I always have so much to respond to during the video but then I completely forget by the end 😂😂.

shanna yusingco

Noooo 😱, don't watch the live performance first. Do not put a highlight first, please!!!!!!

Nira

We'd like to see you play ping-pong! Best 2 out of 3, no adding sets til Jared wins! Let's see who legit wins a 2 of 3. As usual, another great reaction. Y'all are so much fun to watch!

Cassandra

I'm interested to see your notes what you guys write on your note pad and your handwriting maybe you can hold it up to the camera one day...😁😏 always love your reactions... Stay well and healthy BORAHAE 💜 💜 🌠🌌

Miituaine Ka

I actually really hope you could react to every duo in BTS in the future, in regards to their relationship and brotherhood with each other. It’s really interesting to see how the team dynamic work, because it’s very special. They are family and behave in their own ways to form an overall dynamic together, but when you team any 2 together you start realizing they form different dynamics depending on their personalities and ways of expression. It’s almost like you’re making some kind of sociology observation. We have Namkook (RM & JK), Jikook (JM & JK), Yoonmin (SG & JM), Vmin (Tae & Jimin), Sope (SG & Hope), Taekook (V & JK), Taegi (Tae & SG), Jinkook (Jin & Jungkook), Namjin (RM & Jin), and every other duo that you could possibly put together. There are plenty of videos online (~ 10 min each), it could be done in one long video in which you react to some of the duos or trios. Gotta warn though, some videos are done in a romantic and not a brotherhood way, so it’ll be better to find videos that focus on the way they express themselves instead of deliberate edits. Of course, it’ll be fine as long as you don’t take it in a romantic way haha. Tell me if you actually wanna get into the team dynamic some day, and I’ll be more than willing compile suitable videos for you. Love your reactions!

Jaeyi

They react to the studio version on youtube

Jimin's eyesmile

Yes! That was their online concert during 2020 when covid striked, and saying it was a marvelous concert would be an UNDERSTATEMENT. They had different sets prepared for EVERY SINGLE SONG, and it was all huge, beautiful sets that corresponded with the theme of their songs. It was the biggest virtual concert held so far with over 1M paid viewers that tuned in, I would like to add on that there were a ton that watched livestreams or replays that ARMYS shared because they couldn’t pay, so the amount of viewers were insane. It really was a marvelous concert, I mean all of their concerts are insane

Jaeyi

This was a great reaction! Jared's reactions and even Jordan's after each live peformance are always priceless! LOL!! I cannot wait until you get to all the CYPHERS, Outro: Tear and more! Oooh and Mic Drop which was actually another diss track inspired by none other than former president Barack Obama at the white house correspondents. 🙂 I think It's good idea to save the best for last meaning do live performance last just how you guys just did here. In that way, after color coded and analysis and knowing what the song is about you're saving it as the "final moment" or the cherry on top or a finishing touch to something that is already good! 💜 Also It would be great to also do episode of ROB episode each week on a specific day + deleted scenes and bonus content. And Jared, to answer your question about the Map of the Soul ON:E set. YES. This stage is only for that particular song and they do have different set for each songs which was amazing. Also that's David from DKDKTV channel. He's an army and V bias but also ot7💜🤭 Thank you for this reaction. I have recommended both your YT channel and Patreon to my fellow ARMYS through my tiktok, Instagram and Twitter. Happy Jimin month armys ✨💜 사랑해요 - i love you More power and looking forward for more great content from you guys✨ Borahae💜

HershMarie✨?

Listen to zero o’clock next, if the rap line’s UGH is on one side of the spectrum, the vocal line’s song on the album is on the other side. They contrast and compliment each other in the best way possible.

Kase

Loved you reaction !! But to answer your question regarding changing up the order, honestly I think the way you have it now is the best order. Listening to the track first lets you hear all the little nuances a bit more calmly, hearing the explanation reveals the meaning and nuances with the language that is otherwise not communicated and then the live performances ads a heighten energy, new ad libs , or a different approach. I feel like this reaction kinda showed that progression, your first reaction was pretty chill as you vibed with the song, the explained video hyped you guys up more cuz now you guys knew the message they were trying to send and it got you guys in the mood, when the live performance came around you guys were definitely feeling the anger and aggression and much more engaged. I don't know if you would've felt the same energy if the order was changed, but that's just my opinion. Been loving your journey! Can't wait for Jimin's week ! Hope you guys are ready lol, much love 💜.

Cheshire

Great reaction as always! Can't wait for you guys to dive into the "Cyphers" and "Outro: Tear". I also think you guys will love "Mic Drop" and "Baepsae". These two are crazy good!!! The "Mic Drop" hook is always stuck in my head! I'm looking forward to Jimtober and think you guys should checkout "The Jimin Effect | Everyone is Whipped for Jimin". Jimin can make anyone fall for him so be careful he might bias wreck you! Can't wait for Tuesdays reaction.

Juliana Krampf

great great reaction as always, you two. and i caaaaaaaan't wait for you to check out Outro: Tear. this song is full of emotion and Hobi's last verse gives me chills everytime i listen to it. also, the live performance is insaaaaaaaaane! Hoseok's stage presence and passion is on a whole new level. for me, Hobi owned this song. Hobi + Dior outfit + Outro: Tear = PERFECTION 💯

mheng93

Listen to your reactions since a few weeks on YT. Yesterday was my birthday and I decided, it's time to joyn you on Patreon. I would bei pleased, if you watch the live performances next time first and after that the lyrics/explanation videos. I'm excited to watch your reactions on OUTRO: TEAR. This song hits me everytime and I hope you like it that much, too. Look foward to more content in JIMtober. Borahae from Germany! 💜

Anja⁷

Their live performances are ALWAYS, ALWAYS better!! So I agree with those who say that it's best to leave them for last. It would not be fun to see you get let down when the studio-recorded version didn't live up to the live performance. I was lucky enough to see them live (twice) in LA last December, and it is an experience I WILL NEVER forget. I'm crossing my fingers that the two of you get that opportunity also.

CDragon21

Nothing less than expected. Superior reaction video! It’s truly astounding how I’m depth and wild bts can be. As the members have said however, the best moment is yet to come 😉. I want to give a heads up with jimin, since he’s my bias and has been since the very beginning. His vocals? Unreal. His dancing? Out of this world. You can see the hard work he puts into his passion of dance. So far it looks like Lie is winning in the polls, and for some background, Lie is made by jimin for the most part. It was released in 2016 with the Wings album. (Blood sweat and tears being my first ever song that made me fall) it was made about a dark time for him and his troubles with himself and expectations. It’s beautiful though. AND PAY ATTENTION TO THE MUSIC!!! There are some subtle but amazing parts that tie it together gorgeously! (Key changes!!!) And for the live performance, good luck. He’s a mixture of flirty and shy which wrecks us all and he knows it. Anyways, love you guys, take care! 💜

SingingSeaDragon 01

Thank you again for the great reaction and I really love the segues from YouTube to Patreon. You should manage your content however you feel works best for your own interpretation and appreciation. I will say, however, there are no “bad” songs, but some just don’t hit me on the first listen. But once I take a moment to read the lyrics and understand the emotion of the song - without fail they have all become favorites. I think that context really enhances viewing a live performance. For example - to watch the Wembly performance of Outro: Tear without understanding it’s origin - you really miss a critical component of why that performance is so powerful and how each member literally bares their battered heart and soul right there in front of us all. I look forward to all your content and can’t wait to get into Jimtober!💜💜💜💜

SilvrArmy

Personally i wouldn't recommend listening to a live performance first when reacting to a song since live performances do enhance the song in multiple ways and brings out a different energy compared to studio versions. I think being happily surprised by a live performance is better than feeling underwhelmed by the studio version, but that's just me.

tannie misser

The more you listen to Ugh the more you get effected. Whether it's anger or hype or whatever, Ugh hits you. I love it, I love Ddaeng but TEAM OUTRO TEAR!!! YOU ARE READY ALREADY!!! P.S. Please leave live performances for the end cuz those are the cherry on top!! Love yall and thank you for the reaction guys!!! 💜💜

LizP⁷⁷⁷⁷⁷⁷⁷

I totally agree with you on the ddaeng vs UGH debate - you really can't compare them to one another. They're just too different musically, lyrically and in energy and message. Can't with for you guys to rank the cyphers though 😂

tannie misser

Thank you for your great reaction! Couldn't help but giggle when you guys asked about the set they had for UGH's live performance, thinking about vocal line singing zero o'clock (a slower, ballad-y song) in the middle of a boxing ring knowing that it would've been the next song on the setlist lol. But yes - they had different sets for most of their songs! Map of the soul ON:E was a 2-day concert held during lockdown and since it was 100% online, they had a lot more flexability and control over the stages and sets they used for each song. Would love to see you two react to their performances from the MOTS ON:E concerts once you get around to the Map of the soul : 7 album. Again, thank you so much for your genuine reaction and appreciating BTS with us!

tannie misser

Hi guys! Outro: Tear is still my fev rap line song. I think you will love it and I really hope after this song you will check RM's and Wale collab on "Change " . It's also amazing and powerful. 😀

Magdalena

Hi Guys! This concert ON:E was the only chance BTS had (due to Covid) to present their performances of their most successful album MAP OF THE SOUL:7. Each performance set is different depending on the song. Like Jordan said we can’t ever get enough of BTS because all 7 members and subunits give us something different to enjoy. Rap line usually gets us hyped meanwhile vocal line give us comfort. Also I personally can't compare any BTS song and that’s the beauty about their discography, there are not even 2 songs that are similar, or that you can say this one is better than the other. If you want to start listening to the live performance first maybe you can try with Butter and Dynamite that you have already heard many snippets?? I can recommend these perfomances This is from the last concert they had in LA in 2021 Dynamite + Butter https://youtu.be/-mRLd5b_WM4 This is Butter for their 2022 Grammy performance https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbkBVxU5K5A And this is Dynamite for their 2021 Grammy performance https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWRMXiHhDjc

PamTan

Hi!! fellow Luxembourg ARMY!!! 💜💜

PamTan

Welcome to Jimtober everybody!!! Buckle up, it‘s gonna be a smooth AND wild ride with our duality king, Jimin! The collector of all of ARMYs hearts and one of the first in line to wreck BTS‘s male audience. There are many compilation videos out there of our male (and ofc also female) ARMYs blown away by his duality. I know, I said it a couple of times now, but be ready to be Bias wrecked! btw I always love the bond and interaction between both of you. You are not just smart but also very funny and not afraid to express your love to each other. We love soulful kings! 👑 In relation to your question: Please do whatever you like to do on your channel. I‘m not going anywhere.

Kiki

I second that!!! RM himself said to us in a live that we shouldn‘t waste our energy with negative comments and hate and just focus on the positive things. So basically we should just block, report if necessary and MOVE ON. Keep scrolling guys. If you don‘t have anything nice to say, just keep scrolling. 💜

Kiki

I can't wait for the day you react to Baepsae/Silver Spoon, it's my personal preference over UGH and Ddaeng, the lyrics are very relatable to the younger generation, sounds like an anthem at times XD And of course, the live is memorable as well. Was also wondering if you'll get to more Run BTS! 100+ episodes is a lot so maybe you might want to start early and slot them in between song reacts.

Kaz

Ugh is one of those songs which will never get old. Ever. Haters and naysayers are still out there and they keep shooting. But they're stronger. So much stronger.

Solny

💜💜💜💜 Looking forward to Jimtober! I want to see everything you have prepared!

Glaseon_711

Another great reaction! I am SO ready for this month 💜

Johana

totally enjoyed this reaction haha!! finally ugh! the song that really makes me wanna "fight" someone its just... ugh!! .. amazing and the message behind it just makes everything better. Looking forward to what's to come, I am beyond excited.

Sana

outro: tear. i hope you're ready. i cried the first time listening to it, without a translation or understanding (the members were going through a difficult time and talked about breaking up). the emotional buildup is like no other. and you can feel the pain, especially during jhope's climax. it's written all over his face when he performs it on stage. i tend to keep things inside and this song helps me to let my emotions out. it is very special to me and i'm looking forward to your reaction. i really appreciate you guys. borahae

ava

I totally love your reactions. For the question about live performances, I would always say save the best for last, so yes, the way you have done it now is good for me and just like what you have previously done watching an older live performance then, a more recent one to see their growth is awesome. I cannot wait for Jimtober! Although JK is my ultimate bias, Jimin is also my ultimate wrecker! Warning: Once you Jim-in, you can't Jim-out, and as everyone says: Jimin steals everyone-your husband, your wife, your boyfriend/girlfriend, maybe your twin, even your pet so be totally warned lol. I am a sucker for BTS's slower songs so I am looking forward to this transition. I have mentioned before Spring Day is my top 1 BTS song followed by answer: love myself and since I saw the Spring Day explanation video the song has become even more special. I hope you can get to this song soon.

RhadAnne

Yo Another top five for moi. 1. When asked both Suga and V say Ugh is their fav BTS song 2. I enjoy the build up to the live. 3. PING PONG KINGS 🤴 yassssssssssss 4. From a strictly visual stat you two enjoyed live Ugh more that Ddaeng. Your stank faces need to go down in the J&j books 5. To think that Jhope was not a singer nor rapper prior to becoming a member 😳 incredible stage performer 6. RM'S power and presence in this live is sexy AF thanks men for sharing your BTS journey with us ‼ I love seeing more and more your personalities coming thru on these thorough and authentic reactions. 🟣🟪🌌🖤💫

Amani ○°●•7

I saw a comment saying a good transition from ugh to jimtober would be tony montana and I do agree that'd be a good transition! It allows you to see jimin in a completely different light, one that I'm sure you'd enjoy! But I saw you're planning on doing one song via the poll, so that might have to wait but regardless, I'm sure you'd be mindblown whenever you get to it. Also, to comment on the video order, I know the typical best order of things is the song itself -> translation -> live performance, but seeing how much you both value live performances, a switch might do you good. It is ultimately up to you. You could try to switch it up for one video and see how you feel about it before deciding. Thanks for the great reaction as always, and have a great day/afternoon/night!

haley!

Having the live performance to close off the reaction is perfect. Cause BTS live is totally different from BTS in the studio. For me, i am team Outro : Tear. Suga wrote the song and when the guys heard it, they all cried. & the live performance at the Wembley Concert was so powerful and raw.

Shalia

I would like for you to react to Spring Day and the explanation. The song os really good and it gives you a good representation of RM the post that wrote this song. His intelligence is incomparable. After you see the explanation you’ll see how socially conscious they are. 52 year black ARMY who BTS helped being back from a crack addiction. That was kind random so I’m editing to give more context. When I found BTS I was very lost to Say the least. But once I got in to them I found out they were coming to Chicago. I live in Atlanta, but my brother lives in Chicago. I started saving to go see them. I went bus by myself to see them. It not only strengthened my relationship with my brother, but showed me the was more important things then saving money to get high. After this I developed a relationship with God who brought me the rest of the way. So , no BTS want the total thing, but the diverted my attention long enough for God take hold. That’s it I share this experience to let you know the power of music. I’m 3 years clean doing great!

Lisa Montgomery

Your competitiveness over ping pong at the end makes me think of BTS In The Soop because most of the boys develop a minor obsession over playing ping pong in the show. And some of them are more graceful losers (or winners) than others.

Jen Roe⁷

I will never ever understand how another person can go online and send hateful comments to people they have never met. You may not agree with what they say or do.. but why waste your time on them, when you could be watching and supporting something or someone you actually like. The K-pop community can be extremely hateful and toxic. I hope you guys never run into any of them. And I advice any fellow ARMY to not do exactly what this song is talking about.. because BTS doesn’t not stand for it at all!!

Ale

anger truly is such a powerful motivator and not only will it but it has changed history forever. i will always appreciate the boys supporting anger that's justified. one recent instant of this was in one of joon's recent lives he was talking about how much he loves and supports army and he said specifically that he supports us getting angry. it doesn't seem like a lot but army is made up by a lot of women like myself who are told constantly to not get angry and hold in our emotions for the comfort of others. to hear him say that he supports us getting angry just really touched me. i've literally never been told that before by anyone. i've included a link to a clip of the live if anyone wants to see it.https://twitter.com/jvnggkuk/status/1550081093134581762?s=20&t=UuviV961g6MFGA4drGBALQ also for order of watching may i suggest watching a live, an explanation, and then another live after. i know it's a lot but i think it would be interesting to see how watching the raw live performance makes you feel vs after you have some context.

shelby🖤

I enjoy the way y'all have been watching, MV/LyricVid then an explanation or lyrics dive, then the live performance. It's kinda like... when you first meet a person.. you first learn their name then get to talking and learn about them.. then you see them with actions how they are.. so I like how y'all have been watching so far, at least that's how my brain works ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Alva S

You could always start with a live, break the song down and then watch a different live performance to close out your reaction. The first live would give a "feel" for the song and it would probably hit differently after understanding the song when you see it performed again. They almost always change up performances of a song. As people have mentioned, there was no live audience for them for MOTS ON:E. It was an experiment once they had to cancel their live tour due to Covid and it paved the way for several successful online concerts. I think because of that they were able to go all out on set design....there wasn't a set stage in front of an audience. ......they could move through several unique spaces from song to song. Thanks for reacting.

Laurie Brennan⁷

Yes...PTD Fire was an incredible remix

Laurie Brennan⁷

I screamed when I saw you uploaded your reaction to UGH... I honestly agree with Jordan about Ddaeng and 'Ugh' branching out of different emotions... they're two amazing songs that convey different feelings to different things 🤷🏻‍♀️ I can't choose between them lol I do think, however, that the order in which you're listening to BTS songs is perfect ( Song w/ lyrics > explanation > Live performance) I feel like it gives you the chance to take it all in. I hope you get to see them live one day 🥹 there's nothing like being surrounded by ARMYS who love them as much as you do 😩 the synergy is literally palpable ❤️

Adi

When BTS announced the date of the new album army was so loud! Some of the stadium staff thought an earthquake had hit the staduim lol! Being with army when BTS goes off, is a high that I will chase for the rest of my life. There is nothing like it. And as for the other, it's your channel manitos. You guys do whatever. I'm not going anywhere.

Rae Avilez

You should save the best for last and the live performance is amazing every time… my vote is live performance last!

Cherry Valens

So excited to watch these reactions!! Thank you both!

DanielleM

My vote is for MV or lyric versions first primarily so that you can fully enjoy watching the live performances with an understanding of what they're saying without being distracted by trying to read the subtitles.

Tiffany1013

Maybe to ease your way from Ugh to Jimtober you can do Tony Montana.. a side of Jimin you wouldn't expect.

Chris Augustine

OMG YES CAN WE DO THIS ON HALLOWEEN PLEASE??? DANCE PRACTICES IN HALLOWEEN COSTUMES...

Eli Min

I had so much fun watching this reaction. Can’t wait for Jimtober 💜

Ellysa Vaj

see....this is tricky because BTS often performs live better than recording which is unusual from at least what I've experienced listening to other artists, do you think understanding the context of the song and then listening to the live version heightened the experience? or first, just feeling the energy and understanding it after makes for a better listening experience? for me personally, I like to listen to things in steps from least hype to more hype, when I thought of something being less impactful and then being fully impacted by how great it was leaves a better taste in my mouth personaly, like "because oh wow this just gets better I was wrong, oh so that's what he meant in this song" and the songs stays better in my mind.

alessia

Their live performances are so high caliber…Pair that with the visuals AND how impressive they sound live, it just hits different for pretty much all their songs. So starting off with a live version for most songs I think is a good idea. Side note, you’ll definitely be bias wrecked. Once you Jimin, you can’t Jim-out…..so they say 🤣🤣

Stacey

At first listen Ugh doesn't seem to be such a deep song because the music makes you want to bang your head against a wall but when you really dive into the lyrics it blows your mind. BTS are real geniuses and they are very socially conscious about whats currently happening. There's a saying in the fandom that all the members have personal twt accounts and they see EVERYTHING. We know they see it because they bring it up in conversations or like this in their music. The sad incident in kpop DKDKTV mentioned really shook the industry and it breaks my heart that a few celebrities took their life because of hateful comments. This song just brings awareness to korea's malicious online communities which in my opinion are way harsher than international ones. It also brings awareness to the lack of mental health and support idols need since it's so normalized =(

Alishea

Another amazing reaction guys. Absolutely loved it! I get so excited waiting until your next reaction. Can't wait until you guys get to Baepsae dance practice with subs + Baepsae Explained by DKDTV and Baepsae Live Compilation. https://youtu.be/xX_6HV9b7Gg https://youtu.be/RP4Qbh2rXFU https://youtu.be/xYb68WbRTB8

“When you fight for your right to party you create love amongst one another.” That is the reason ARMY is so close to one another and so close to BTS. That is why ARMY is as huge as it is. Since day 1 ARMY has fought with BTS against all the hatred and bias thrown at BTS. And since they’ve received so much of it it’s made ARMIES super close, like a family.

Veronica Lynch

Their stage performances just feel different than the lyric videos and even from the original recordings. And when you hear them live in concert for the first time, UGH, it’s unbelievable, an experience you’ll never forget. Thanks for the reaction, I can’t wait for the car test, I promise you this song is an auto-pass. Also, Halloween is right around the corner and I just wanted to share a couple of practice videos from BTS (in costumes). These are their Halloween specials for ARMY Edited GoGo Go Go - Love Yourself Her 2017 (this video is only good for the English sub 0:00-1:39, then the audio is gone) https://youtu.be/TQUt78t1Q98 GoGo full, but no English subs- you may need them for the first 1:39 minutes) https://youtu.be/Fl54gG0B8I0 21st Century Girl - Wings 2016 https://youtu.be/D1THyaNK6JU War of Hormones - Dark and Wild 2014 https://youtu.be/ZxEly3yz-1g

I like the idea of Live Performances first! You can feel the songs just for it’s feelings and what they are presenting and transpiring on stage, then MV and then the lyrics (explanation, color coded whichever you’d prefer). I’m waiting for your reaction to some Yoongi’s solo songs and I think Daechwita is a really good introduction to it. I think you will know how to appreciate its meaning and message as it is deserved! ❤️ thank you for your reactions 😊

Amanda C. Fabeni

Watching live performances first truly hits different, maybe you guys can try it out Next time and see for yourselves what you both are more confortable with. Either way, we will enjoy it the most if you both are truly enjoying it. Again, I'm sendings this links for JimTober, please react to some of these if you can about his personality and abilities (don't make me send this 15 Times😇) 💜💜💜💜 How Jimin protects and takes care of BTS https://youtu.be/Fxe3DX44V4Y Jimin defying gravity (athleticism, flexibility and Core strength) https://youtu.be/k6F0PD2cgAs Jimin being sassy AF https://youtu.be/SNo-6E6tgeE

Yara

Exactly!!

Amanda C. Fabeni

This is why you cant hype things up. Lmao. Your reaction on Youtube was exactly what I thought itd be. Of course you liked it but it probably wouldve hit better had you just listened to it without everyone hyping it. Its like episode 24 on Run BTS. Everyone hypes that episode as being the best and its far from the best episode of Run that when people see it they say I expected it to be better. Lmao. Your reaction to the performance was perfection and hilarious. Lmao. And I always say I should take a shot every time Jordan says "Jared". Lmao.

Nanon ApoBangpo⁷

As always, love your video! 💜💜💜💜💜

Alicia

I loved the reaction and how Jared almost broke the mic 😂  I love all of the rap line's songs. As a person with an extensive taste in music, I appreciate the different cadences and beats. However, I have to admit that UGH has a special place in my heart because it isn't a dis-track that is just throwing trash at their haters, but one that is bringing awareness about the harm that malicious words and actions can cause to people. Outro: Tear also has deep lyrics, but that song makes me VERY emotional, so I avoid it to protect my fragile heart. Do whatever you feel comfortable with. I don't really mind the order of the videos, so just do what you think is best. I enjoyed every single second of this video. Thank you very much. PURPLE YOU! 💜

Clau

Especially in their more resent albums, BTS often write their songs with the performances in mind. They're biggest passion, beyond music itself, is the stage. I think reversing the order of the things you react to would be a good way to go for some songs that are really meant for concert/performance vibes, rather than quiet listening at home vibes. Though, I think you both keep open minds enough that you're willing to change your opinions on a song once you witness their intended mood/setting.

Alix Drifty

Tough question. I would say start with production version first and hear the songs in the purest version. BTS songs are complex anyways and I find that it takes a few listens to really appreciate everything. They really know how to suck us in. You hear the song, then look up the lyrics, then watch the mv, then see the dance practice, then the behind the scenes for the mv and then the live performance and before you know it you've spent hours on youtube. Best rabbit hole ever. Pied Piper effect(Also a song you will get to eventually

Mariah P

can't wait for your ugh and ddaeng car test!

SO EXCITED FOR JIMTOBER!!!!! LETS GOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

bee

Hi guys I knew after hopping over from YouTube that the live performance would hit you differently. Somehow live is just a different energy, rawer often with great runs and ad libs. I think it would be great to do a live first to get that first emotional feel for a song and then deep dive into the meaning but you won’t know if you’re comfortable with it until you try it once or twice. Then do what you feel is best because your reactions are always honest, positive and very detailed. The beat in this song hits like a gut punch which makes the stage set perfect. They often change things up in live performances which makes a song feel different each time you see it. I really love DKDKTV . Their explanation videos are very succinct and on point. You don’t really need a lyric breakdown after listening to David. The state of the world with the pandemic, politics and tragedies really makes the point of the song current. There’s so much misplaced anger that could be directed towards something positive and I really appreciate how you felt that. I’m always stunned when I see Hobi just go off. The way he moves shows what an incredible dancer he is but I’m always amazed remembering that he was not a rapper when he started. He’s such a natural with a unique style all his own but he always holds his own. You’ll see this especially when you react to Outro-Tear , Wembley performance. He is stunning! I’m looking forward to Jimtober. We can all just chill in the warmth of Jimins sweet vocals and then get slayed when he starts to move. His body flows like running water, each move without a beginning or end. He’s mesmerizing to watch. I can’t wait. As always this was worth the wait. You are both so respectful and honest with us. Love you both 🤗🙏💜💜🇨🇦

Great reaction!

Please to react this live performance this is super dope! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIiTyQku8mE

... And Shout-Out to the Rap Lines' parents. UGH! Thanks 🔥💜

Tiana

wow amazing reaction....seen that you have reacted to my all time favourite song blue and grey...its so sad that i wont be able to see it due to currency exchange its way to expensive so i was wondering if we will ever be able to see it in this low tier....im from south africa and im happy to be part of this family

Mmapula Mphamo

Loved it! For me the live performances are best when you can just enjoy it and take it all in. So maybe at the end after you know what the song is about...? Either way....before or after works for me. 😊💜💜

Veronica⁷

I think your order is fine, lyrics vid or MV then if necessary explanation like DKDKTV and also there's Bookish Theories does good ones too and then live performances. I love the live performances but sometimes in some videos the music may be muted or sometimes the screaming from the ARMY messes up really hearing the musicality of the song. So last is the way to go, a natural elevation and the closest to reality as fans. Most of the time we hear the songs first before a live concert, right? 💜💜💜

Mel

i love the hype for the live performance, i can never stop myself from getting up and shakin arse lmaoo so excited for jimtober!!! and with the next rap-line songs on the horizon, i hope hip-hop phile doesn't get overlooked! it's a full band song with all the members, and i know you'll both love and appreciate rap-line's lyrics, the overall vibe, and honor paid to the hip-hop community and their influences 💜

xela

Such a tough question. I think it depends on the song. live/lyric. My 2 cents.. 1. listen to the production, 2. lyrics, 3 live. I went through their whole discography no lyrics, eyes closed. My goodenss just to think they produced this kind of energy and power with this performance and there was not one ARMY there to watch them in person. I feel chills thinking about what they went through producing such high quality content for ARMY when they couldn't even feel our support (the way they were used to). They outperformed the industry during a pandemic with poise and professionalism. Yes there were multiple stages for this concert. They booked an arena that had multiple set ups so they could rotate from one side to the other.

Jess Horton

UGH is my all time FAVE rap line song and it hasn't changed to date, I have to say! I sing along to that every time and my friends find me crazy rapping in Korean 🙌😂 Just like how DIMPLE is my all time FAVE vocal line song (Please react to that live performance plsss along with Pied Piper, it won't mess up your timeline Lol). And when I say FAVE - I mean it, you must know that by now 😌🤭 But seriously, it's that type of song that I won't get tired of listening to just anywhere. For me - I think live performances are better enjoyed when you know what they're singing about. So I guess knowing about the meaning of the song first is important so you can have that full experience of enjoyment of a live song. What you're doing is just fine. Thank you for this awesome vid again my FAVE brothers!! It wrapped up my weekend on a very good note. Borahaeeee 💜💜💜

J-Lee

oh man.. i can't WAIT for you guys to hear Look Here... oh my god

Jenna B.

Thank You, Jared and Jordan. Much respect 💜🔥 Anger should translate as passion or else it's wasted.

Tiana

Thanks for this great reaction. Was so fun. I like the way, you are watching the videos, with the live performance at the end, but specially for Outro: Tear I would recommend, to watch the live performance first (for me the best one is the one from Wembley https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDuaJGYe8EQ). You will be blown away from this performance I think, all 3 of the guys are terrific, but J-Hope always gets me at the end. I literally cried, when I saw it the first time, I couldnt imagine, how it must have been to be there in person at that day. But still I love all the videos you make and soaking them in. You have to be good with them and have fun with it, thats important. (Sorry, if my english fails sometimes, I practice ;-) Fighting! Greetings from Germany and Borahae 💜💜💜

Noll⁷

lol just hearing them talking about how amazing a concert is wait till they watch mma 2019 best performance i have ever seen. you need to watch a real live performance just like hobipaluza. because UGH was performed on a online concert and the crowd makes it even better.

leat

You guys are the best. When Jordan started coughing during the Ahem, I almost passed out laughing. Thank you guys for the reaction and blessings to you!

Connie Piper

Also when you’ll be ready to react to Tear pls let us know in advance, Bcs we’ll need to mentally prepare for listening to that again🤣 (jk…maybe not)

Polin

Can’t wait for Jimtober. Our cutie sexy lovely nice guy! 💜

LIVE FIRST OR NOT? I think reaction to studio recorded song should always be first because it gives you the overall impression when lyrics and live is like “details” of the song. You wouldn’t want to read the lyrics first and then hear the song, right? I think it goes the same way with performance. It’s is like a cherry on top, something to end your journey with. Moreover, if you watch the performance first you might simply not get some things, like why do they pretend to fight and why is it a boxing ring? However, if you listen to it and read the lyrics first you’ll understand all the meanings. So I think the current order is perfect (but maybe it’s just me, hey) :) P.s- when you will decide to react to “outro:Tear” I HIGHLY RECOMMEND to do it in this order: 1)Listen to it and tell us how it made you feel 2)Read the lyrics and tell us what you think it’s about (Bcs the meaning is veeery deep:) 3)See the explanation vid 4) And ofc the performance (at the Wembley) not trying to say that j-hope is my bias but if you think he was possessed during ugh, you should see the Wembley performance, the man poured his soul out🥲🥲 THANK YOU FOR YOUR REACTIONS, still the best bts reactions I’ve ever seen up to this day! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Polin

That would be great tbh, for them to watch the speech before they get to the song maybe.

Katherine Cordero

I like that you save the live performance for last. Just like the saying says, save the best for last. And imo the live performances are always better I also would like to add that I would like to see a reaction to the vocal line next!

Freek Stap

lol your machine gun almost turned into a grito I'd be welcome if you had the Live second, but not first. Videos are always released first for a reason. **Unless there is no MV then absolutely the Live is cool

Jung Hoseok is always on demon time when he clocks in ! He becomes Jay on the stage! I love our rapline, they are such amazing and talented people and performers. Their lyrics and songs are so poignant that now I always look for one BTS song no matter what I’m going through! Great reaction guys! Thank you for being kind, respectful to our boys, I hope you are enjoying yourself in our beautiful community Borahae 💜

Princesse Avoce

I think live performances or MVs for a first listen are good, but you guys do you. :)

Raevan21

BTS will have a free online concert on Oct 15th at 6pm kst. Perhaps you will watch it and react? If you join Weeverse you can get the details. They had this during covid and had different stage set for each performance it was live online during covid. I saw the performance live online but also bought the Blu ray.

April Forgue

Can you just not please, they are totally unaware of how disturbing the online k-pop community can be and you are just laying out fanwars - that detailed - in this section, it's just not it. You could have said that they are writing hateful comments and that you don't understand.

Anaïs

Okay, great reaction, this song's message is so on point, I wish it would be heard more. Now, as people mentioned, "Outro : Tear" is a great song but it needs context. This song is about them, they actually went through a rough patch during 2018 with their rising popularity, the pression and so on, thus they came close to actually disbanding, which in itself was hurting them. As they went through this tough period, they did end up renewing but they nevertheless made "Outro : Tear" to express this painful moment and emotions, specially toward each other, Suga wrote this song mainly with J-Hope's and RM's contribution. Their live performance for this song is actually emotional and to see. Also, they talked about this hard time during their award speech at the MAMA 2018, not that you have to see it but it can help provide some further context. Also, as someone mentioned "Baepsae" is another song that is to listen, like the performance is fire but the lyrics [explained] are everything. Finally, I don't know when you will do it in your schedules, but if you need funny videos to react, I think that "BTS being BTS at Awards Shows" is a great compilation of moments without needing to know inside jokes. Anyway, can't wait for the next one, take care. 💜

Anaïs

This was a online concert so they had different sets for their performances.

Sharon Bagchi ⁷

I like the live performances for the end, for me it's better to actually know the song and get hype with it at the end rather than it being the first time listening to it live.

Sabrina K

To your question on the sets - yeah it's common for them to come up with special sets for different songs! But this specific concert was their first online concert during the pandemic (BTS could see some of the ARMY audience but only through live stream like a giant conference call - then the rest of ARMY were just tuning in and watching separately). So I'd say they really went extra for this and had elaborate sets to maximize that streamed/filmed format. And yes this set was just for this song lol. (This also means sadly no one's really seen this song performed in person and I hope someday we get the chance!)

Loredana de Caro

Two reasons I love Jared & Jordan reactions; BTS and almost always I learn new vocabulary… “ugh” slaps always.

Zale Navi

Sadly there was idols who were doing great in the industry, had so many fans and were toping the charts but committed because all the hate. I can't imagine how it felt for them not being able to enjoy all their hard work and celebrate with their fans because people just hate for no reason. BTS attended their funerals and I would say they showed their anger in this song.

Katherine Cordero

The grit in their live vocals adds SO much to the song, man that live is fire. So cruel that they couldn’t have a live audience at this point. Yes they switched sets for everything! It was an amazing online concert.

Gray

Can't wait to watch this all tomorrow (it's 1.30am here and I want to watch it without any interruption 😉) 💜💜💜💜보라해 🇱🇺

^^ yesss, I second this!!

Ok but why are people not recommending Baepsae???? Likely their most political song.

OMG 2ND GRADE!!! Hobi's flow is UNREAL in that song.

IM HERE IM HEREEEE

korgi

Its so fun when I make it to the yt premiere and get to go straight to the patreon upload 🔥🔥 ugh performance literally gives me life. This concert was so magical, they did build sets specifically for many of the songs. Tae had a carousel on his set, and Jins set was a personal favorite of mine it was so cute. They also often do remixes or balance songs different for concerts to elevate the performances or to just do something new and exciting. AND THEN THEY NEVER RELEASE THE REMIX, that is literally a crime against armys.

fox

Excited!
