Ditto what Nils wrote. I think it's safe to say that she's the most cutting-edge pop star on a major label, thanks to Charli in 2019 (really going back to SOPHIE collabs on Vroom Vroom...). If you think "Lightning" is a crazy and great song, I think you should listen to Charli. Even if the video doesn't reach the right metrics, listen to it for yourself!

Jon! You seem to be more into the experimental parts of this record, and that's why I'm here to tell you that that is EXACTLY what she does on her recent previous albums. This era and album is what she herself refers to as her "sellout era" where she basically went full-blown pop (with a smudge of experimental stuff). Her previous albums (such as Charli and How I'm Feeling Now) are A LOT more experimental and the production is insane on those albums. Anthony Fantano (theneedledrop on Youtube, if you're familiar with him) named Charli the best album (of all genres) of 2019, rightfully so! So my suggestion would be starting off with the album Charli and then going from there. I'm so confident you'll love it. Loved the reaction!

Her interview with Zane Lowe for this album really encapsulated her whole career as an artist under a commercial label for the last 13 years of her life. This is her final album of 5 she wrote during the time and it really sets her as the queen of pop in the last decade. Her first two albums were a bit more mainstream and radio friendly and her reasoning for that was because she didnt feel like she could be more experimental with her sound being such a young artist in a very competitive field. Pop 2 and Charli are the most experiemtnal out of all her albums and she works closely with artists associated with PC Music including A.G. Cook and the late SOPHIE

Definitely should check out her two albums before this: Charli and How I’m Feeling Right Now. Very experimental pop and very fun to listen to in my opinion. The production is what get me hooked and then catchy melodies and hooks just add to it.

I looked it up, it goes back at least as far as 2005 with “Cry for You” by September.

I don’t know if the melody predates this, but the familiar part from Beg for You is probably from When Love Takes Over
