Honestly, while Future discography is incredibly stacked, I think the better album to do next is actually his double-disc album, Future/Hndrxx . The Future disc is more raw and in vein to DS2, however, the brilliance imo comes from his Hndrxx disc. That's his more progressive, musical, rnbish, experimental side that kicks in and it's fucking turbo. Track by track. You'll enjoy it a lot.

Seeing you realise future’s lyricism in real time was amazing lmao. As I’m pretty sure everyone’s said, you NEED to listen to his mixtapes now as this album is pretty much a culmination of the sound he developed on those projects (with the bonus tracks acting as a sort of greatest hits). Honest/Pluto are also incredibly underrated with people who got into his work through the 2014-15 mixtape run so definitely also check those out too!

I loved this reaction from start to end. I’ve always been a fan of this album and future just in general even though most of his newer stuff isn’t anywhere close to this expect for a few highlights. Don’t get me wrong I still enjoy his work after this record but DS2 has always just hit different. Thanks for making my day with this one Jon!

Facts. Futures world is materialistic, cold, dark and void of any love since his split from Ciara, which turned him to a monster. The autotune is kind of a metaphor for this. Sometimes the emotions break through the dark clouds of the materialistic and hedonistic lifestyle, which is why even on the supposed flex songs like blow a bag he still manages to be introspective and deeply saddened but only for moments at a time sprinkled throughout the songs. This is what makes Future so much more of an interesting character than other trap artists, and it gives him real depth.

Your reaction proves the real brilliance of this record, because you listened to it like a bunch of trap bangers (which is fine & the intended purpose) But if you go back & listen again & think of the lyrics as cries for help instead of brags it becomes absolutely insane Ex: “I bought all the sodas at the gas station,” “bitch imma choose the dirty over you, you know I ain’t scared to lose you” etc
