While I would not discourage them from watching the Abrams Trek movies (though I was fairly cold in reception towards #3), I think they would enjoy them a bit more if they start with the original films like Trek 2, 3, 4, 6, etc. Those originals are a bit old now, but the sci-fi elements/trappings from Wrath of Khan onward still hold up quite well to be worth them commencing there.

2025-03-19 19:34:11 +0000 UTCI haven't seen the movie for so long, I had completely forgotten how good it is. After this reaction, I think it would be so cool if you would react to Star Trek. The only problem is, even though I think the Star Trek movies can be enjoyed on their own, without knowing the Star Trek series they lose some of their emotional punch. Especially the movies 7 to 10, as you hardly get to know the TNG crew trough the movies. Despite Katie's tiredness, you both delivered a fun reaction, you guys are awesome.💜 I hope Katie got a good rest after this reaction, it's always nice to see her.

2025-03-19 16:10:55 +0000 UTCOf course this film is spoofing on Star Trek. Like Galaxy Quest, Star Trek was a TV show that ran from 1966-1969, but started a huge franchise. TV shows and movies, lots of them, and they have very serious fans that we call TREKKIES. Gene Roddenberry was the creator of the series and he imagined a hopeful future for Earth and humanity in which we had gotten rid of war and hunger and turned our attention to exploring the stars. A rule Roddenberry had was that the crew of the Enterprise (the ship in Star Trek) wouldn't have any internal conflicts and all the trouble would come from outside the crew.
