RIP the late great, Donald Pleasence! (Dr. Loomis)

Nathanial House

lol "Their done?" It was pretty fast right?

bernard henderson

Did you ladies watch The Princess Bride before or after this?

Brett Norman

I still say "Halloween II" (1981, written by John Carpenter and starring Jamie Lee Curtis) ends the story and is the only sequel I accept. 🎃

Mr. Writhms

I don’t know if you ladies realize this, but after this movie, all the other sequels do not exist in the timeline except for the last three. 2018 the next two.

Ned

When they first watched The Thing (1982) I recommended they afterwards watch Big Trouble In Little China as a good John Carpenter remedy for any lingering fear & paranoia the ladies might have been experiencing.

S_Vive

Now it's up to Asian Angels to stop him.

S_Vive

Now that you've seen the two definitive Carpenter masterpieces, here are the rest of his films that are must see movies: They Live Escape From New York In the Mouth of Madness Assault on Precinct 13 (1976, NOT the 2005 remake) Big Trouble in Little China The Fog Christine Vampires After you get through with those, here are his other worth a look/take it or leave it movies: Escape from L.A. Prince of Darkness Starman Dark Star (be prepared for student film quality) Just go ahead and avoid Memoirs of an Invisible Man, Village of the Damned, Ghosts of Mars, and The Ward. Those are his not so good to outright bad ones. John Carpenter is a film maker Mount Rushmore caliber director.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show will shock you just not in the way you think

It’s acceptable…. https://youtu.be/2BG522NlleA?si=JP3_dsirOwTPlkh9 I’ve only seen the 2013 one once when it came out, and I thought it was quite good. Definitely worth another go.

Great reaction ladies, I love your outfits!💜 As the series progresses, Michael becomes less and less of a human being and more of a personification of evil. A being that cannot be killed. I actually think that's quite good, especially since it's never really explained in the series. I'm always a bit lenient with the characters in horror movies. Yes, of course they often make stupid decisions so that the movie doesn't end after 10 minutes.😅 But if you take Laurie as an example, she has found all her friends dead, is injured, is exhausted, is in shock and is being hunted. In a situation like that you don't think logically and clearly. People often forget that when they're watching a horror movie from the safety of their sofa. When it comes to horror movies, I'm more of a fan of ghosts, demons and psychological horror. Slashers can be fun, but they're a bit like, you know one, you know them all. Since Halloween is now slowly coming to an end and I really enjoy your horror reactions. I would like to suggest that you continue to use Tuesday as a fixed day for horror reactions for a while. There are so many good horror movies out there. And even though I like the classics, I miss the more modern horror movies in your reactions, such as the American remakes of The Ring and The Grudge, The Barbadook, Smile, Cabin in The Woods, Sinister, The Ritual (2018), The Autopsy of Jane Doe, It Follows and these are just a few examples. I would definitely be happy to see more horror reactions from you Ladies.

Hellraiser is great. I was reading about Bataille and the similarities found in Hellraiser, which are pretty fascinating. The Hell bound Heart which the film is based on is great as well. I am a fan of Nightmare on Elm Street. I think I became very cynical when it came to movies after film school, so certain classics like Halloween didn't appeal to me, but it's very well done and classic in its own way. The Witch as well as other Eggers films in my opinion should be watched with subtitles even if you are an English speaker.

Henry N.

I have to agree that this film is a bit of a museum piece, but it's crucial to watch to complete your horror movie 101 requirements. For classics, I agree that Rosemary's Baby should be in there, but also A Nightmare on Elm Street, got to have some Freddy Krueger, and I would add Hellraiser 1 and 2 as well. Definitely, Blair Witch, as you said, that really kicked off Found Footage horror movies. Basically, all your recommendations are great. I love The Witch and that director in general, but I do wonder how The Munchies would deal with the older English that's spoken in that film.

What about Evil Dead 2013?

Steven Roy

I feel bad because I know it's the seminal slasher film and incredibly significant to the horror genre, but I never clicked with Halloween for some reason, maybe I'll enjoy it more this time. Rosemary's Baby is still the best horror film I've ever seen, might be worth reacting to before the end of October. Psycho is good too. Blair's witch project might give them nightmares but that's pretty terrifying and well done for what it was. Some other good ones are 28 Days Later, The Witch, The Others (which I think they'd like), Audition (which I think they'd hate), The Wailing, The Descent, The Fly, Misery, Cure, Pulse (Kairo), American Psycho, The Ring (not a masterpiece but scary), The Brood. And one of my favorite horror films ever which is a Spanish horror film called El Orfanato. Terrifying but in a really subversive way. I'm not sure Shutter Island is horror but I think you'd really like that.

Henry N.

Nice reaction. I am hoping you ladies end up doing Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1974.

Looney

Time to watch Shutter Island next!! 🤣

Daryl

Should really give The Cabin in the Woods a try, I think they've seen enough horror movies to get that one now

Ryan Alexander

The Thing that shows up on the TV in this film is the original. Carpenter's The Thing is a remake. I'm so glad Tien and Lan remembered some lessons they learned from Scream - Only virgins survive.

Steven Roy

This, plus The Omen to catch up on at the weekend. What a week! 👍🏻 All we need now is Evil Dead 2….. (hint hint, fun Halloween recommendation for Munchies 😉).

Duncan

Yes! 🎃🔪 But... a Halloween "party" without Hella?
