Gran Torino Reaction

Gran Torino Reaction

Comments

I recommend watching Crash from 2004. It's a touching story about how people from different cultures interact in the city of Los Angeles.

Grumpy Monk

7th. Thats ok of a movie but the portrayal of the G's is a bit silly. But its still a decent movie. Some of my favorite films from him is Pale rider, The good The Bad and the Ugly, The Outlaw Josey Wales, The Mule, American Sniper, Escape from Alcatraz, Two mules for sister Sara and High Plains Drifter, just to name a few. Clint Eastwood is known for his roles in westerns and is a Director and Producer. He's we household name for everyone.

Saints_Madness

I loved this reaction. I joined Patreon just so I could watch your full reaction. I am a little surprised no one mentioned the Clint Eastwood movie that I thought was his best until I saw Gran Torino: The Outlaw Josey Wales. Its an epic story about a man seeking revenge, ends up with a price on his head and is constantly forced to defend himself, while also helping an unlikely assortment of people survive in a lawless post-civil war America. Like many of the films he directs, it is a violent, anti-violence movie like no-one else can make, and like Gran Torino, with a lot great acting and humor mixed in. He doesn't get nearly enough credit for how funny some of the lines in his movies are. There are so many quotable lines in this ("Dyin' ain't much of a living, boy.") that some people can quote the entire movie. If you liked Gran Torino, you will enjoy riding along with Josey Wales, just be aware its going to be a pretty emotional ride.

Well if you do come back I offer $100 for them to not watch it. For a whole year.

Absolute Power is also one of my top favs from Eastwood... and has always been unique in several respects to me since I first saw it when released. (Of course I like most of his work and can only think of two off the top of my head that I never much cared for: 1971's The Beguiled... and 2002's Blood Work.)

S_Vive

Yep, Unforgiven is Eastwood's 'Gran Torino of westerns'... very close to the top of his work.

S_Vive

Fan-YOU ? You're still a fan? (In all seriousness, these ladies certainly in no way deserve such expression of sentiment as you intended.)

S_Vive

They don't work like a requests channel (though that is not to say they aren't mindful and appreciative of suggestions). There are SO many good & great films in the same caliber of Frequency for them to watch for reactions... they will eventually get around to Frequency if it is still acquirable by them.

S_Vive

Though I had recommended it previously for its well-written & portrayed story matter, I had apparently forgotten that Eastwood had done Sully.

S_Vive

Nicely expressed. During the reaction watch when the ladies heard about the Hmong being forced to leave or be harmed by the regime and wondered "Was that real; did we really do that?"... I had meant to leave a comment saying: No of course you didn't (nor likely anyone in power in Vietnam today), but the ruling government at that time before you were born did. Of course, I forgot to write such comment, and they really didn't need to read it from me, as they are smart & introspective and likely realize the gist of what I'd have written anywise. And indeed most Americans seek to live in peace, even if such strife eventually finds us more commonly that we'd like to otherwise hope... especially if one lives in or near such neighborhoods as the film's example closely approximates or exactly depicts. (I grew up in such a neighborhood a couple miles northeast of the downtown reaches of Detroit in the 80's that was already as bad or worse than the Highland Park/other settings for where Walt's house was supposedly located.)

S_Vive

Hello ladies. I just recently joined your Patreon over the weekend. Towards the end of this movie I just wanted to give you both a big hug. You two made *me* cry.

Kantanshi

Wow, this guy is a loser. Must lead a miserable life.

Kantanshi

If you love Clint Eastwood, watch his classic Unforgiven.

Karl Lee Justice III

wtf relax yourself buddy, no one owes you anything weirdo

Henry N.

I really hope I get to see you guys react to Clint Eastwood in “In The Line Of Fire” and “Absolute Power”. (Two of my favorite Clint Eastwood films.)

Uncle Phoenix

Hey I have a movie suggestion for you guys, How about the movie called "The Mask" staring with Jim Carrey it's really a funny movie

Lancelot Caviezel

Tiên and Hoa (are those your names? I sometimes find it difficult with my English ear to tell what you're saying when you say your names). Anyway, another great reaction! You started off giggling, then you cried for the rest of the movie! If you found this movie engaging, you should see another of Clint Eastwood's films, possibly his best: "Unforgiven".

Prometheus

Good movie.

Chrono Gamer

Great Reaction Hella & Tien! Gran Torino is one of the most favorite reaction movies on YouTube! But for Gran Torino I had to see your full reaction! One of the casting directors said that Clint Eastwood wanted to have real Hmong in this movie and he said it took him a long time to find them! I believe these were Hmong from Korea! Clint Eastwood has many Westerns and an iconic Inspector movie series Dirty Harry! And many movies of humor! I'm looking forward to more reactions of Clint Eastwood!

Johnny

Clint Eastwood = One of the all time greats \m/

Get over yourself.

OK ladies-I am withdrawing my support for this channel AND Asian Angels. Been asking for MONTHS a reaction to FREQUENCY. Is this how you treat all of your Patrons? I can no longer be a Patron who gets ignored.

Michael Goldberg

I noted your comment that "Old people are respected in Asia." I have an American friend who has lived in Vietnam for many years who keeps trying to get me to move there, and yes, I could be considered old by some. "Respect," you say?

Tinker Greg

The star of the movie, Clint Eastwood, also directed and produced it. He is a big name in America cinema. To see something very early in his career, I recommend "Paint Your Wagon. (1969) It is a silly musical, and Clint sings! For something more recent (2016) and serious directed by Eastwood, I suggest "Sully."

During and after wars there are always refugees, and many of them came to the United States. I use to work with a man who was in the Nigerian Civil War, and I asked him why he has here he said, "My side lost." In 1976 a young Vietnamese man moved into my apartment building, and we talked. He had been a soldier in the South Vietnam army, and fled as one of the "boat people" trying to escape prison ("re-education") or execution by the new, conquering, government. Eliminating opposition by any means they feel necessary is something conquering armies and governments do. The fact that Hmong had helped the U.S. forces during the war made them 'people's enemies' at the time, so yes, many of them who could came to the U.S. The fact that you weren't aware of of this is just a case of governments acting like governments , suppressing information and facts they don't like. New immigrants (mostly young men) have historically often grouped together with others of their origin for protection, profit, and status. Also citizens who feel like they are not part of the greater society. Thus, gangs. Italians, Irish, Mexican, Hmong, etc, etc. Unfortunately, the way that they often gain status & profit--especially within their group--is by idiotic bluster, violence, and crime. If you hear about how violent America is, and how many murders we have, the majority of that is done by gangs... typically against other gangs (though too often sweeping up innocent bystanders in their idiotic violence). Also, these 'outsider' groups usually meld into the general American society over time. Usually. So the plot of the movie is realistic and believable, but it is a local phenomenon, something that isn't geographically widespread. Most of America and most Americans mostly live peaceful lives. Mostly.

Tinker Greg

so good but so sad lets watch something lighthearted next

matthew

Great movie here.

Tharodan

Another movie you might like where the actor also wrote it is “Rocky”. It came out in the 70s and the writer Sylvester Stallone (a famous action star) wrote and starred in it before he got famous.

fan

I’d suggest Rules of Engagement (2000) with Sam Jackson

Manospondylus

I’ve watched all your reactions and I think it is safe to say that this is the biggest reaction to a movie I have seen from you guys. This is the kind of content I subscribe to you for. Absolutely beautiful. Thank you.

Joe Laster

This is definitely a film for you two to watch on your own again apart from reacting to... because there are so many little details and so much depth to the story that I still see something new or feel something deeper each time I view it. It is an enriching and rewarding film to see again from time to time.

S_Vive

Yas, im ao happt your watching it!!!

Darien Conner

Hella & Tien outtakes... for the intro!

S_Vive

Of the many storied roles Eastwood has played, along with the many stories he has directed, I count many among my favorites (such as Pale Rider and 1997's Absolute Power)... but hold this to be his highest and unlikely ever to be exceeded.

S_Vive

great reaction, very emotional! if you liked this movie I recommend Million Dollar Baby (2004) from the same director/actor, it won the oscar for best picture!

Jonathan Kidman

Ohhhh boy. 😅

Manospondylus

I love seeing you guys getting invested in movies like these! This movie is definitely one of my favorites and I'm glad you watched it.
