Given that my October is always a nightmare, I am scheduling a bunch of posts to be released automatically over the course of the month. You guys are gonna get some cool things coming, but I’m going to be away from my computer for virtually the entire month, which means not much new digital art will be worked on for the month of October. Basically I’m gonna flip the switch to autopilot for a bit.
Good thing there is that, because I will be away from my computer I will have much more time to do sketching and since that takes much less time, I’ll be able to crank out the basic blueprints for a lot more stuff that I have coming in future .
I actually felt proud yesterday because I was able to accomplish something I hadn’t ever done before. I typically do several layers of sketching before I commit to doing the black lining considering how it’s the most precise, final version and therefore the most finicky.
Last night, however, I went from the first and most crude layer of sketch directly to lining. Not only was it basically exactly what I was looking for in terms of what I had in my head, but I did it like under a fuckin’ hour...
I don’t think that’s ever happened before, and I know the reason it happened is because I managed to finalize some of the character designs, a few of which I’ve already posted. Meaning that while i’m away from my computer with nothing but my sketchbook, I’ll be able to finalize a shit-ton of designs and blueprints. That, combined with the new speed I have to draw, means that I should be able to gain even more speed.
