Status + Project Update: 4/21/23
Added 2023-04-21 18:05:47 +0000 UTCAnd the ball rolls.
One of the major problems I've had with Patreon in the past is that it's been pretty impossible to make it a viable business strategy. Much of this is due in part because this platform is not the most intuitive, but it was mostly due to the fact that my work setup was in dire need of an update.
For over the past decade I've been using a Wacom Bamboo pen, IE: no screen. And let me tell you, I truly HATE having to look away from where I'm drawing in order to actually fucking see what I'm drawing. For one reason or another I held of upgrading...
Then life happened.
COVID hit, I lost my job, had to move, once I moved I then lost my apartment and car to Hurricane Ida, and I've spent the last year and half homeless. Not "on the street" homeless, but displaced enough that I have been unable to dedicate time to things that I am passionate about. None of this aids to the fact that I have been dealing with my own mental and emotional shit ON TOP of all the circumstances that life throws my way.
I have been on "survive" mode for the past 16 years.
I write now to say that I am (as far as I can see) in a place where I am on a noticeable incline. I am no longer homeless (though the place I am at is still a little out of my broke-ass price range and any help is welcomed (share my Patreon with your ABDL friends please!!)). Having a place to live, to call my own, to decorate how I like and babify to my heart's content is certainly doing wonders both in terms of my mental health and also my ability to create what I would like to. When I lost my apartment and I got the insurance money back one of the things I promised myself I would do (other than building myself an adult crib which I am currently doing) is to upgrade my drawing tablet.
And I did.
And you're now seeing the effects of that.
I'm not using an XPPen and it HAS A FUCKING SCREEN. HOLY SHIT. My workflow and pace has already increased. In a way I'm actually glad that I spent so long before getting this tablet because it gave me time to continue to learn the shortcut keys on various art programs. Though I only just hit my 30's I still have "old man" syndrome when it comes to keyboards. So not having the screen to draw directly onto coupled with the slow pace of learning the shortcut keys is what was really kneecapping my ability to work. Now I'm actually feeling good about this, which, if you know me, is a goddamn miracle.
In addition, the speed at which Patreon is starting to have a decent ROI ratio in terms of time/effort needed to income, which is a complicated way of saying: The larger and faster this Patreon grows, the mroe confident I will be that I'm heading int he right direction. So thank you to everyone who is currently subscribed. To everyone who is not I hope that you do, either now or somewhere down the line.
