The Mushroom Swamp Update is here and its a big one.
I hope you enjoy the update and thank you all so much for the support :)
You will need to create a new world. While I intended to have saves be forwards compatible a critical issue was discovered with the world save format that required and extensive refactor of world saves. I am sorry for any inconvenience or frustration this has caused. Thank you for your understanding.
Mushroom Swamp Biome
In this dark and gloomy biome you'll find ponds filled with lily pads cascading down into streams. Huge fig trees loom overhead with giant mushrooms and vines underneath. Dense vegetation litters the ground. I wonder what kinds of creatures, nasty and nice will call this place home.
New Animals
There are two new animals you can find in the Mushroom Swamp. The Hippo and the Anteater. Hippos love chilling out in ponds and looking for some tasty grass to eat. Anteaters like to spend their days searching the forest floor for their next meal.
New Building Materials
With the new fig trees comes a new wood type: Fig Logs and Fig Planks. The giant mushrooms are the source of a few new building materials. Their caps are bouncy and their glowing undersides can be dyed a variety of colors to light up your builds.
Improved World Generation
The world asset placement system as been completely overhauled. Objects like trees, logs, rocks and more should now look much more natural. Terrain now should also blend better between biomes.
Peaceful Game Mode
I have added a peaceful game mode with no hostile creatures for those who just want to explore, build and chill.
How to Install and Play
Windows
Download the .zip file attached to this post
Place the .zip file into the folder where you want to install the game
Right click the .zip file and click Extract All
A window will open. Click Extract
Open the LayOfTheLand_0.10.0 folder
Double click LayOfTheLand.exe

Gameplay
New peaceful game mode that disables hostile creature spawning
SetGameMode command. 0 = Normal Mode, 1 = Peaceful Mode
Better tree health. Their health no longer resets when a piece splits off.
Small voxel physics objects are now automatically picked up by the player when they are walked over
New status effect Haste: walk/run speed boost
New status effect Dexterity: increased spell effects, decreased mana cost

New Voxel PCG System
Rocks now generate in clusters
Rocks/logs etc can now spawn under tree canopies
Dead logs now align to the terrain
Improved vegetation cluster placement
Roads will no longer create bridges over lakes
Biomes now share base noise maps to improve blending
Biome specific fog densities
AI
AI will no longer attack you in ghost mode
Most ai attacks now have knockback
Certain animals can now wander into water (hippos)
Engine
Upgraded to Unreal Engine 5.5.1
Physics
Floating voxel pieces that are too small to make a voxel object will now turn into particles instead of disappearing
Voxel
Improved voxel data structures to reduce memory usage and improve data query speed
Refactored voxel data saving to allow for decompressed voxel data over 2gb in size.
Misc
Vegetation overlapping with subtractive voxel edits such as digging now check the over they are resting on rather than just being removed
Reduced the amount of time some ai will pursue a hostile after losing sight of them
Change status effect indicators to progress bars
Added descriptions to status effect indicator tooltips
Thatch is now crafted from grass voxels
Saplings are now automatically added to a players inventory when a tree is broken
Can now sleep through weather
Sleeping now will start the day at 7am instead of 6 am
Added black powder to bomb loot chests
Footstep sounds will no longer play when flying
Added blur to background of ui panels
Support for multiple terrain flattening zones for structures. Giant fossil ruin no longer flattens a large area
Improved autosave performance
Further improved game thread performance
Fixes
Fixed missing control hint for up/down building offset
Fixed nav mesh data gather stuttering
Fixed incorrect chest, campfire and kiln inventory slot sizes
Fixed being able to use items in off hand when in a ui
Fixed crash when removing voxels from some props
