Arboreal Refsheet

Arboreals are spirits and guardians of Merran forests and are also an incarnation of fertility and primal force.

Their gender is fluid most of the time, although most of them prefer the shape of a rather female body-type. Also, all kinds of strong emotions cause an Arboreals body to produce a powerful fertilizer with a very strong healing-effect.

Like nature itself, Arboreals are very erratic and have two different foms: Their peaceful Dryad- and their agressive Fury-form.

Calm versions of the Arboreals are called Dryads. In contrast to the Fury-form, a Dryad often helps friends of their grove and offers special gifts from time to time (often in the form of fertilizers etc.)

In their Fury-form, Arboreals can modify their bodies with sharp claws made of bark and thorny vines. They are capable of nature-based magic and are able to listen to plants around them. For that reason, most villages offer parts of their harvests to the nearby Arboreal to prevent any outburst of their rage

- It´s also the main reason sharp things and lighters are kept far away from the mischievious hands of Skirrans in these regions.

Usually, Arboreals transform only people that had proven very kind to their grove or nature in general with an unique magical plant that grows from a seed they can give birth to. Sometimes, they do it as a payback, to people that hurt the nature around them tho.

An Arboreal is just as mighty as the grove around her, so she constantly feels the pain and weakness of her grove if someone hurts it. After a transformation, the victim feels the same kind of pain, which is seen as a punishment for their crimes.
