An Update from the Desk of Exurb1a - Which isn't Really a Desk but a Bed and isn't Really an Update but Throw Me a Fucking Bone, Huh?

Hello carbon units. How’s it all going?

Firstly some recommendations.

Around a week ago I was having a conversation with a friend about how I never get sick, which is largely true. 

Not even flu? he said.

Not even flu, I said. 

The next day I came down with a vicious flu. It did, however, give me the time to watch and listen to some great stuff. Particularly: 

A fucking amazing biography of Elon Musk , with minimal Musk worship and the bad parts included.

A fucking amazing musical called The Book of Mormon  which I’ve somehow avoided for years. I was literally crying with laughter at points. Some of the smartest writing I’ve ever seen. 

A fucking amazing logic game, tickling all your AI pickles, suggested by a kind Patreon supporter – called The Talos Principle. 

And a fucking amazing documentary about the Apollo moon missions , which I watch every year anyway and only gets better with age. You – will – not – be – disappointed. 

I took a few gentle stabs at starting a new novel, but it just isn’t ready to come out yet. I’ll throw a few months and a bit more coffee on it and see if that changes its mind. In the meantime, I’ve started collecting and writing a load more short stories which will shortly be materialising as a book collection, I hope – and this will, of course, be going out for free to the lot of you when it’s quite finished. I will not be proofreading it this time. I’d sooner eat my legs. To that end then I’ll be looking for a proofreader to politely launch money at and please find all the silly words. Ah, other stuff? The audiobook? Done, more or less and being polished. Print versions of the books? In limbo, as ever. I can’t talk too much about it right now, but exciting things are happening behind the scenes at the moment with actual publishing houses, so we’ll see if that actually materialises. 

Beyond that, I’ve been chatting to a few of you over Skype and as always you’re nothing short of weird, disturbed, and charmingly pleasant to talk to. I’m generally around in the evenings for a chinwag. 

New stuff coming shortly; currently working on a video on quite a different theme to anything we’ve chatted about before. I do hope you don’t hate it. If you do, well, reality is a harsh place and I’m sorry about that. Here we are, wandering alone in the wilderness with only our wits and good intentions, burdened with total stupefying ignorance of what reality is even doing here in the first place. A slice of biscuit cake should see you through though. Works for me.
