Hey, that was actually... kinda rough. Damn. I think I jinxed myself when I said the Loona background was really easy, because this one was kind of a pain. But, I'm glad I did it. This was something I needed to do two years ago. I dunno why it bothered me so much. Let's take a gander at the OG and compare.

I mostly kept everything the same, again, I wanted it to feel faithful to the original. There were just a few things I wanted different. One, I wanted to get rid of the door in the background and replace it with a window. That way, it feels a little more claustrophobic. I wanted to simplify the couch, as doing further animations on said couch will be easier if it's simpler, and I wanted the clocks to be busier on the right side of the canvas. Before the composition felt a little lopsided, and now I think it's more balanced. I also brought down the cowboy hat clock, because I like it and wanted to see more of it, and I didn't bother drawing in the pendulums because... well, they should be moving. Before, they're just all hanging to the right and it looks weird. I thought about animating them, but I kinda feel like that would be a waste of time. I'll consider it, if the rest goes real smoothly. I also kept everything to a more realistic perspective. The original has a wackadoo perspective to it, everything's off. But purposefully. It fits the style of the show well. I could've imitated it, but I want my backgrounds to look grounded and believable. So, I settled for a kind of middle ground. The clocks still have that lineless look to them and are weird, but everything adheres to a general perspective.
"Hey Kyde," you ask, seductively placing your hand on my inner thigh and batting those eyes at me, "How'd you get everything to look so crunchy? Those lines have a lot of texture, but your Terminator-like arm usually only makes clean lines. What's going on here?" You're right, dear viewer. And no, I did not leave my comfort zone and try using a different brush. It's a filter layer. Krita, the program I use, has a filter called "Random Pick." I'm sure other programs have it too. But it... does that. Makes it look kinda pixelated and textured. Pretty cool. Before, it looked too clean, and the original has this kind of messiness to it. Looks closer, now.
I must say, I really like the moose clock. It kind of looks like a dick. While I was drawing it and adding more girth, it was kind of making me act up. I've been... thinking about shifting gears and making nothing but moose porn. What do you guys think? Thoughts? I know my Canadian viewers are probably leaning back right now, taking a sip of their Timmy's, and saying, "It's aboot fricking time." Think about all the moose characters that need more art. Like... Bullwinkle? I think that's his name. And those two Meese from Brother Bear. And I think that's it, there are no more Moose characters in existence.
Well, that's that on that I think. I'll probably keep wienering around with this, adjusting colors and shadows. Up next is BASE Animation, bringing this thang to life. I'll see you then, friends. And lemme know what y'all think of the background, if I could improve anything or whatever. Lemme know.
And yes, before you ask, the KYDE Wall Clock featured is actually in production, I'm planning on selling it as a fundraiser. All proceeds will be donated to Somalian pirate cells. None of that is true, by the way. I feel like I have to make that clear. There are no clocks being made, and I don't give money to pirates. Pls no raid, Government agencies.
