Hey! A good friend of mine has a character I enjoy a lot called Haifang, so this time around I wanted to paint Luke and Haifang enjoying each other's company a bit! Looks like they invited a spectator as well. :)
I often want to try to create brighter scenes, so this time around I tried to create sort of a white environment. I'm decently happy with how the picture turned out, but it was a bit challenging to paint a scene that would realistically be pretty evenly lit. I feel like it's a lot easier when there are clearly established shadow areas and lit areas. So for the next illustration, the water nymph scene I added a preview of here, I'm trying to do a better job of defining those shadows and lit areas. The environment in particular is taking shape much more easily this way, for sure. And I'm excited to keep working on that one! The nature environments I've done have always ended up being the ones I look back at most fondly, so I should probably keep doing a lot more of those.
I also wanted to share a couple of doodles where I'm experimenting a little bit with styles and workflows, I hope you like those too.

2023-07-08 11:58:44 +0000 UTCWell, your friends OC is very nice! ๐ The whole painting is looking great, with the warmer, more vibrant tones of the characters really standing out against the cool, softer feel of the white background and the green sheets beneath them. I like the subtlety of the background, like how you show the corner of a wall entirely through the shadows near that plant pot. Likewise, the window area is nicely done and I do enjoy the subtle blue indicating the sky. It's an interesting way to do a background, not something I've seen before and I think you've done a great job with it ๐ธ And of course, the actual bed and the sheets look terrific, all of those folds in the material and the way it's all pushed around and collapsing on itself is great (I also like how Haifang's foot pushes into the pillow) As for the characters, the poses are all very fun and dynamic. Luke and Haifang have great foreshortening going on with them and I like the twist in Luke's body as he raises his left shoulder. Both the ladies have lovely curves to their bodies as they arch their backs, showing off the sensual, peachy shapes of their booties. And I do like the teasing with how we don't see the full view of their breasts, particularly on the pink girl, with her breast pushing up against the bed. Both girls also kind of mirror each other, which I enjoy. Pink has that curve moving up through her body towards her head as she looks up, while Haifang is the opposite, with her rear being what rises up. (I'm doing a terrible job describing what I mean... ๐ ) I am loving the rendering style that you've used for this painting. All of the characters have this beautiful, painterly feel to them, very textured skin with visible brush strokes aplenty. And even though you have gone for a softer lighting scheme, with fewer dark shadows, you've still done very well in giving the characters depth and volume. Luke still has some pretty dark shadows on him that give his legs and muscles a great sense of shape and volume. Both of the ladies look wonderful too. With the Pink girl, I really like how her ponytail collapses down with strands curling and twisting across her back, the pink looks so poppy and vibrant too. It is also fun to see a girl with glasses and although we don't see all of her face, you did a great job with her expressiveness which I find very impressive. She looks like she wants her turn with Luke next and the adorably blushing cheeks definitely suggest that ๐๐น Haifang (I do like having a name to put to the character) looks fantastic! I really like the white lighting across her butt and thigh, adding a little contrast to her warm skin tones, as well as even more definition to her. The way her thong sinks between her cheeks, as well as pinching the skin on her waist are very sexy details too. I also like that there's this glisten to her skin in places and the textured brush strokes look especially great at her shoulder, where it connects to her neck and arm. The way the muscles are defined and lock into each other, with visible brush strokes and those little shine spots looks great! And I really like her face too, the blushing is adorable and makes her blue eyes stand out even more, with that one strand of hair falling across her face looking very sexy ๐๐ Marvellous work on this painting! ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ The characters all look great, I know I didn't say much about Luke, but rest assured, you did a fantastic job with him. I love the colours here, they're so very vibrant. Haifang is wonderful, definitely wouldn't mind seeing her again, not going to like, a little jealous of your friend getting an OC in here ๐น

2023-07-08 00:45:32 +0000 UTCReally loving the lighter scene! Lighting is an area in struggling with in my own art so Iโm trying to at least be able to make evenly lit scenes look good from a technical/process standpoint and then try to implement lighting afterward as a post process element.
