To update on a computer, you can completely delete the old folder and just play using the new one. Ren'Py stores saves in a separate location on your hard drive.
To update on android, make sure you drag the .apk file onto the previous one to replace it. DO NOT uninstall the previous version or your saves will be lost!
Your second level cheat code is "HeadChef".

Ok, so it's the copying saves part that is the issue. You may be able to find a different file manager app and do the copy directly on your android, but I personally wouldn't recommend that to avoid adding bloatware to your phone. Unfortunately I can't do a lot with "unspecified error" but I'd recommend whatever you're doing, try something slightly different. If you can't copy the files to your pc, try (still using the pc) to copy them somewhere else on the phone. You can also try making sure you have the correct read/write permissions for all folders.

My phone (S22 ultra) doesn't let me into folders such as where the saves are located, so I have to access them through my computer. I can access them through my pc, but when I try to make copies of them I get hit with an "unspecified error". I've been hit with this error a few times before trying to copy saves from other Android games. Do I need android developer installed?

2023-05-14 20:17:35 +0000 UTCI am confused as to what you are doing now. Are you trying to download the android version or the pc version? Make sure you download the correct file for your device. The pc one just needs to be unzipped and played. The android one will probably be placed in a downloads location on your phone, it will probably show up in recent files if you have a file explorer app, and clicking it there should automatically start the install.

2023-05-14 20:12:05 +0000 UTCI keep receiving an "unspecified error" when I attempt to do this on either of my computers (one is running win10, one running win11). I don't know if it's a settings problem on my phone, my laptop, or something else. Any suggestions? This isn't the only android game I have this issue with, though this is the first time that it hasn't let me update. I'd appreciate any help you can offer.

2023-05-14 20:06:39 +0000 UTCWe don't know why that would be happening, but here's how you can fix it: That error means that you have a previous version of the game installed but instead of auto updating, it's blocking it because it doesn't want to overwrite. You'll need to uninstall the old one to be able to load the new one, BUT doing that will wipe your save progress What you need to do first is navigate to the Android/data/com.sidgaming.pad/files/saves folder and copy everything out of there to someplace else to restore it after the reinstall
