We have some big news to share with you today!
One of the most-requested features has been an "Advance Time" button, to quickly skip to the next time you can visit Cindy again. While considering this, we took a closer look at the time mechanic in general, and determined that it wasn't serving its intended purpose. So, for v0.02, we've simplified to just "day" and "night" times, with the clock button you see above used to toggle between them. In the very early game, the usage of this mechanic will be restricted to make sure certain story events happen in the correct order, but by around day 5 you will be able to skip time to your heart's content!
However, we have even bigger news. Between concerns about Unity/Mac compatibility and a fear of poor performance as the game's content increases exponentially over time, our programmer has been researching alternate game engines - namely Ren'Py. This week, he finished a build that successfully replicated all the Unity functionality in Ren'Py! Our original concerns were that Ren'Py is a much more limited engine, and our coder had no experience in it, but now that he's been able to include all the features we need, it should be much easier to maintain moving forward.
So what does this mean for you? Well, you'll have to start a new game with v0.02, but we've made sure to add some extra small surprises to the content you've already seen. Everything else will only be improved moving forward, and best of all, we're still on track for the v0.02 build mid-November. Stay tuned for more feature previews from now until then!
