177 - IT'S A TRAP!!!

A few things I need to clarify:

First of all, Matt and I miscommunicated on who would make the Patreon post this time. We both thought the other was going to do it, which is why you're getting this one day late. Our bad!

Secondly, I feel like I need to make an apology to you (Matt's Mother) for the unfortunately joke which references Leonard Nimoy and the Kobayashi Maru. I will learn from my mistake and try to not to replicate it in the future.

As always, thanks for supp...

176 - Drama on the Podcast

Serious drama. Also, some of it isn't serious drama.

Matt here. I'd love to hear what your high school play was and what role you had. Please and thank you.

There was an emergency. A goat emergency.

And we need to tell you about now.

I hope that if any of you are ever unfortunate enough to experience a goat emergency that you will have someone caring to talk with about it.

I don't actually think pickleball is for losers, but I am going to make fun of it for a while before I admit that.

I wanted to call this episode 173 - Why Your Perpetual Motion Machine Idea is Dumb and Stupid and Will Never Ever Work and You Should Feel Bad

172 - Barnacles and Testicles (Stickers)

Merry Christmas!!!

Nothing says "Merry Christmas" like Barnacles and Testicles.

Actually, I can think of a lot of things that would say Merry Christmas better than this, but it's still absolutely hilarious, and we thought you might want to listen to something funny while you're travelling, or while you're trying to avoid any family members you may need to avoid for whatever reason.

Thank you for your support on Patreon!  Stickers only go out to those who kick in support...

171 - The NUCLEAR Option

I'm a big fan of Nuclear energy, and I'm about to go on a little journey to learn more about it.   What are your thoughts on Nuclear?

I hope you enjoy this episode!  Thank you very much for supporting on Patreon!  The sickers are coming out soon!

170 - Who is the J Man and Why is He Unhappy?

I suppose we also could have called this episode "How Close is Close Enough, and How Does That Change in Different Contexts, and Do People Get too Nitpicky About Things, or is How You Do Things on Small Stuff Reflective of How You'll Do Things On Big Stuff and That's Why You Should Be Thoughtful About Small Stuff, or Is That Just How Old People Think."

Ultimately, we decided that was too many words and just went with what you see above.

We appreciate you. And we made sticke...

Patrons! We have a little something coming your way toward the end of the year! Please be sure your address is correct in Patreon by the end of December. While we'd love to provide this token of appreciation to everyone, we're reserving it to those who are Patrons to a paid tier.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for supporting the podcast this year (or for however long you've been a Winged Hussar)! We've had a very memorable year with H.W. Sandlin, Barnacles and Testicles, many Fool's Er...

I still think Tina is better at editing than robots

That said, this conversation changes by the month, and I may not be as optimistic on all fronts regarding this stuff as I was even a few weeks ago. The AI revolution is ludicrously fast and hard to nail down. I'm very interested to hear your thoughts on this.

Gracias,

This one's really about riddles and how the allow us to access the invisible realm of ideas and reality that is unseen. But right in the middle we end up talking about plowing with heifers.
It'll all make sense eventually.

Did you hear that Destin got two bullets to smash together in midair?

He did, and I'm impressed. Against all reasonable odds, Chance/Fate/Providence made it happen on a battlefield during the Civil War, and my friend figured out how to make it happen again but without the war part.

Destin read a book I talked about and I didn't know it, so then he told me he'd done it with mics on, and we immediately rolled into talking about it. You don't have to have read the book to get and appreciate this episode.

He held his own very well in the history stuff.

Destin's problem at the beginning of this episode...

...is that he was listening with his ears, but he needed to be listening with his heart.

After he started doing that, things got on track.

The point is, make sure you listen to the opening part of this episode with your heart and you'll feel the correct answers. Maybe.

We appreciate you.

About Overfitting

I knew this problem existed, but I didn't know it had a name. Destin sees the world through very different lenses than me, and I appreciate the times we have conversations like this where his lenses help me see things more clearly. This was a fun one, and the process of making that ad for Anna was pretty great too.
Hope you enjoy it!
