If you ever wonder whats gaaras true ability Gaara has a novel called Gaara shidden. He inherited magnet release from his father wich he never used cuz he hated his father.. His sand control comes from the tailed beast he had and his relationship with the tailed beast left him with the power. (not an opinion this is all written)
