Here we are with another WIP Diary! Here's all the progress I was able to get this morning, before I decided to get some lunch and go on an excursion to Joanns. I've got some big, crafty plans in the works, specifically for this sculpture...it's gonna be reaaaal good.
Today, I wanted to get Ikky's delts put on, as well as add some detail to their elbows and belly. Just look at that happy trail start to take shape! And of course, no Ikky would be complete without their thicc, round bellybutton.
A lot of the time I get stuck in a weird, almost meditative state, where I'll just smooth on clay without any plan or reason, just to have something to do with my hands. Honestly, that's sorta the reason why I got into sculpting in the first place. When I was a kid, I'd steal the sticky tak off of posters in school and hide it in my desk, just so I'd have something to play with when my mind would wander in class. Eventually, I stumbled across my mom's craft supplies cache, which had a bunch of old, unused Sculpey. The rest, as they say, is history!
Unfortunately for current day Ikky, that old habit of just mushing clay around isn't very productive...so I have to make a conscious effort to snap myself out of it and start adding detail to whatever I'm working on. That's what I tried to do with the hair detail today, let's hope I can keep up that momentum!
That's all for this update, I'm gonna try to poke this sculpt some more later tonight. Until then, seeya! :03 )
