The issue was that initialization failed if local distortion physics was enabled by default in your user preferences. I keep it off during development since I need to reload the plugin often and the faster calibration helps there, and didn't think to test that enabling it by default still works. Thanks for sounding the alarms!

Sounds like there's some error. Can you try in the default scene to rule out things specific to the character? If it doesn't work in the default scene - here's what you can try: 1) add v1.0.1 (14.var), go to user preferences, open the preferences folder in explorer, remove the plugin 2) rename the preferences json file to something else 3) add v1.1-alpha1b and see if it works with the default user preferences that it uses when it can't find the preferences file. If it works after that, let me know what the differences are between your original preferences.json and the new generated one. Thanks!
