Another fun one. Best I could hope for would be a 3.5sec 100/100. Try it and let me know what you think.

I’ll be posting a dedicated video for each of these in the coming weeks and answering all of your questions in the PATREON comments. They’ll be available to all-access members.

Y’all get a jump start on it. Posting to all on Monday.
2025-08-08 00:16:09 +0000 UTC View PostThis is by the bed now
It has met or exceeded all my expectations
Hands down the lightest recoil of any 12ga I’ve owned. More comfortable than the 1301 and Tac 13 by a fair margin.
Runs every load I’ve put through it
Patterns as my other mossbergs do
Runs reliably within a 500rnd cleaning/lube cycle with first hiccups showing on light loads just before 700rnd
Light options suck. The MLOK sections rattle loose. The mount slots are too far forward for anything but a pressure pad activated light.
Fore end strap is seemingly useless, but hasn’t been in the way much.
Video review set to hit YT soon- just a video recap of these points.
Y’all get it first

For those that have asked for some DCON branded gear- here you go.
I’m not big on displaying overtly gun things and what we do here goes beyond just gun stuff. I think this messaging sums up what we strive for in a way that stays genpop appropriate. It’s a message worth pushing to everyone I meet. Might as well hit them with it subliminally.
These are in the store now as a direct from manufacturer good. I thought I’d give you guys the first crack at them.
Keep in mind- the hoodies are regular standard pocket hoodies- NOT hoodlum pass through pockets. The Hoodlum will remain unbranded and fully discrete.

Traditional buckshot patterns are slightly larger than the shockwave at all distances. Flitecontrol patterns are the same.
3/5 flitecontrol had shot still in the wad at 10yd. 2/5 had BARELY separated.
New white hull fiocchi defense dynamics patterned tighter than the old blue hull. 5” vs 6” at 10yd.
Blue hull remains the most mild recoil, but only slightly gentler than the new white hull.
All cycled perfectly.
Next up: slug testing. I’ll be using cheap Turkish 1oz foster slugs for testing. I’ll look at some 25-50yd groups but primary concern is cycling and handling characteristics.
2025-05-13 17:43:40 +0000 UTC View PostThis is a good drill to run at an indoor range. Keep it close (5yd) and use 1/4 printer paper targets to keep from destroying the backer. Getting full patterns on a 4x6” rectangle at 5 yds is more difficult than it looks when running at speed.
Gun update:
Monstrum tactical rail
Gideon Granite optic
Stream light Pro Tac.
I’d like to have a circle dot reticle, but this Gideon has great window size, ideal battery access, and nice crisp bright green dot.
The monstrum rail is better contoured to the gun than the usual UTG I use and is cheap. I’ll be using these from now on, assuming all holds up, which I can’t see being an issue with a simple piece of aluminum.
Streamlight protac is an ancient light that was given to me. I hate cables and pads, but this actually works well for the extremely far forward rail space on the gun. I am not at all worried about this light catching lots of blast. Disposable.
Gun is still running well after 200 shells of buckshot and optic makes this thing very intuitive to get precise hits at likely use distances.
Assuming it holds up, I’m satisfied with this gun and not very interested in continued shopping around.
Good ergos. Seemingly good guts. Easy to shoot and simple to maintain assuming parts are made available. I believe it is safe to assume that the 990 will replace the 940 and we will get good aftermarket and OEM stock of parts.
