Zelda WG Story Part 1

It had been a few days since I had set out on my journey with Link. Accompanying him on his quest to save Hyrule was something I never thought I would experience in my lifetime. My days were now filled with adventure, danger, and a newfound appreciation for the struggles that came with it.

Growing up in a life of luxury, I was used to having servants attend to my every need. But now, I was out in the vast world, facing challenges and battles I never thought possible. Link was always there, ready to protect me with his skills and bravery. But even with him at my side, combat was challenging for me.

One of the first battles we encountered was against a group of Bokoblins in the forest. I was caught off guard, and before I knew it, I was badly hurt. Link was quick to act. The Bokoblins were no match for his experience in battle, and he defeated them with ease.

After the fight, he tended to my wounds, wrapping my cuts and bruises with care. Once I was bandaged up, we set up camp, and Link disappeared into the forest to find some food. Not long after he returned, balancing a pile of thick meats and juicy vegetables which was taller than his head. The aromas of the food filled the air, and I watched in awe as he transformed the ingredients into intricate dishes.

First, he made a succulent grilled fish seasoned with rosemary and lemon. He filleted the fish, seasoned it with herbs and spices, and placed it on a skewer over the fire. The aroma was tantalizing, and I was eager to taste it.

Next, he made a sweet and savory berry sauce that he drizzled over succulent roasted meats. As I watched, I noticed my mouth was beginning to water.

He then prepared a hearty stir-fry made with strips of succulent meats and crisp vegetables. He tossed the ingredients in a hot wok until everything was perfectly cooked and coated in a delicious sauce. Next, he cooked up a savory vegetable stew made with diced carrots, potatoes, and onions simmered in a rich broth.

He didn’t stop there, preparing a steaming hot soup made with tender chunks of meat and fresh vegetables as well as baking fresh bread that looked warm and fluffy, with a crisp crust. He mixed flour, yeast, salt, and water, kneaded it until it was smooth and elastic, and shaped the dough into rounds. By this point, I was practically drooling.

Finally, he finished by making a sweet and tangy fruit compote made with juicy berries and a hint of honey.

After preparing this feast, he set it all out on a log he fashioned into a makeshift table and beckoned to it.

“I can’t eat all of this myself!” I exclaimed, but Link simply grabbed my hand, and sat me down in front of the food. Again, he beckoned to the plates in front of me.

“Fine “, I conceded, “but I’m not finishing it all!”. It did look delicious, and I was feeling starved after our battle.

I started with the grilled fish. The herbs and spices complemented the natural flavour of the fish perfectly, and I couldn't get enough of it. I ate plate after plate, marvelling at how well Link had prepared it.

Next, I indulged in the savory vegetable stew, which was filling and satisfying. The broth was rich and flavourful, and I appreciated the variety of textures in every bite. I was beginning to feel full, but the food was delicious, so I continued to eat.

Then, I relished in the sweet and savory berry sauce drizzled over the succulent roasted meats. The flavours were well balanced, and I was impressed with how well Link had combined the sweet and savory notes. I noticed a tightness in my midsection but was too encapsulated in the food to pay it any mind.

I then moved on to the soup. It was warm and comforting, with tender chunks of meat and fresh vegetables. The broth was rich and satisfying, and I felt my strength returning with each spoonful. I dipped the fluffy bread in the soup, going through a whole loaf by the time my third bowl was done.

As I continued to eat, my body felt heavier and heavier. The delicious aroma of the food that surrounded me was almost overwhelming, and I couldn't help but savour each and every bite. I could feel the heat from the spices and herbs that Link had used in his cooking, and each mouthful was a burst of flavour.

I sat back, utterly content in my meal. I needed time to recover from the ridiculous amount of food I had just consumed. Link, however, had other ideas. He grabbed the stir-fry, and placed it in front of me.

“I couldn’t Link, I’m stuffed” I complained.

He simply gestured towards the plate, this time more aggressively. He had spent a lot of time making all this food after all, it would be a shame to waste such a delicious meal. I decided to have a few bites.

I struggled to sit up, grabbing my fork and stabbing it into the amalgamation of food. It smelled delicious. The stir-fry was packed with strips of succulent meats and crisp vegetables. I took my first bite, and I was blown away. This was the best dish of them all, it was amazing. The ingredients were perfectly cooked and coated in a delicious sauce. I couldn't get enough of it. I grabbed another forkful, then another, until eventually, the whole plate was gone. I couldn’t believe I had finished it.

The fruit compote was all that remained. At this point I was determined to finish everything and make Link proud. I tried to reach forward for the bowl but winced at a sharp pain in my midsection. It felt like a heavy weight was weighing me down, I couldn’t even move. Link grabbed the bowl for me and placed it in front of me.

The compote was the perfect end to my meal, sweet and satisfying, and a nice balance to all the savory dishes. Slowly, I ate spoonful after spoonful of the rich and tangy compote.

Finally, one bite was all that remained. I felt like my belly was going to burst, but I couldn't resist. I picked up my spoon and brought it to my mouth. I savoured the rich, creamy flavour.

And then, suddenly, I let out a loud burp. The sound echoed around the small campsite, and I couldn't help but giggle at my own embarrassing outburst.

I leaned back against the trunk of a tree and rubbed my belly, feeling completely and utterly stuffed. I couldn't believe how much food I had consumed. I was used to small, dainty meals fit for a princess, but this was a whole new experience. I was shocked at how much food I needed to eat to heal from our battle.

Link sat down next to me. He placed his hand on my belly and started to rub it gently. The sensation was comforting and relaxing, and I couldn't help but close my eyes and enjoy the moment. I could feel my body slowly digesting the food, and I felt a warm, satisfied feeling spread throughout my body.

"You're an amazing cook, Link. Thank you for making all of this for me." I said, smiling.

Link looked at me and smiled back.

And with that, we sat in companionable silence, other than the occasional belch, watching the stars twinkle in the night sky. I felt full, content, and ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead on our journey. I was grateful to have Link by my side, not only as my protector but also as my chef. I was looking forward to what the rest of our journey had in store for us.
