Also want to add that i would love seeing your reaction to "Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann", in movie form to be exact, not the whole show simply because movies are better in my opinion, and take way less time to watch since they are basically condensed version of the 27 episodes with all unnecessary parts cut out.
You watched "Evangelion" already, so it would make sense to watch a show that was made as a parody of it, but became something far more greater in a sense. Its a must watch and you are not gonna be disappointed in it 100%, no-one is

The thing is that whole story from ep 1 till ep 23 was an "Untold story" - something that happened but was never recorded (exactly what was Anthony talking about in his last dialogue with Novak) "Neither of us will be remembered to history".
We can tell that because of opening of episode 1 - "Year 14XX, somewhere in the kingdom of P". In the last 2 episodes we are back in real time "Recorded history" since we follow Albert who was indeed a real person. Also we were given actual time, date and place of that period. The Rafal he met was a metaphor, someone with the same core but different, literally Nietzsche's Übermensch. From my point of view it fits since not a lot of people can understand that without that person being drawn as Rafal we knew before.
The person Albert were talking to in the booth was the friend of a boy that was burned by Anthony when Jolenta escaped from the dungeon. Its easy to deduce that much from what and how he was talking and also how he looked.
I hope that explained or clarified some stuff.
I really want to say thank you for reacting to this show, it was a pleasure watching it again with your immensely insightful commentary, cannot wait for "Demon Slayer" now :)

Since now you've seen the opening, i highly recommend you to see all versions of it, since it's visuals changes through the anime. I'm convinced you'll enjoy the differences
