2025-11-25 19:06:27 +0000 UTCDemons in Japanese mythology are creatures of spirit. Generally, they "manifest" a physical body to interact with the normal world. This is why you can cut off the limbs, body, head and not actually affect the demon too much as it just uses "resources" to recreate the body, the spirit itself being unaffected. The special steel (and other effects) don't just cut the physical, but the spiritual. You can also think of the breathing techniques (there are obviously several), are like a form of meditation bringing the practitioner's spirit and body into close harmony so enhancing the effect on spiritual entities.
