I think the alternate universe is valuable in that it still centers around one of our main characters (Ekko) who will play an important role in the conflict. He sees a Zaun that isn’t his, but it shows him that it can be changed and improved (as he is a scientist himself and cares about fixing their environmental issues). That may not be our Powder or Benzo, but technically he lost his own Powder and Benzo right around the exact day that the hinge point took place (history was identical until Vi died on the mission, meanwhile Powder left them and Benzo died right after that exact same day, therefore his childhood memories of Benzo and Powder would still be shared by those exact same people, minus that last day or two). It’s less about them and more about him getting to have these interactions, and making an important piece of technology that would’ve never existed in their own timeline. But yeah the Silco and Vander scene is awful, Ekko’s remark of “didn’t he try to kill you?” would be totally uncalled for and should have offended them, and Silco’s response is way too wholesome and hammy and forced.

2024-11-30 19:44:13 +0000 UTCI dislike it even more after the next eps as it took valuable needed time away from other stuff. I think had they done this as a bonus after s2, I would have loved it, as the idea would have been charming had it not stolen 20 minutes from other plots.=( But I am extremely glad you enjoyed it, I would have liked to as well. I am really sad act 3 in general was for me a giant step downhill from the perfect show they had been going in my mind and I hope I was in the minority with that. I hate dislking stuff I was looking forward to a lot :(

2024-11-29 23:01:55 +0000 UTCI absolutely loved it. I have seen about 10 different reaction to it. Yours being the only one, not glowing with praise. Normally I can understand your perspective, but not this time. Maybe you had a bad day, came in seeing tropes you normally don't like. Then It was just downhill from there, unable to trust the writers, wanting answers right away. I hope it will all make sense to you by the end, or when you re-watch the show.
