ahhh, that makes sense. I was suspecting lines were missing, the episode felt like there was weird breaks. but I guess that is so similar for all anime :D I would have loved them to tak emore time and get this in. I know I was also stubborn, but that infromation made it clearer. =(

2024-09-23 23:24:06 +0000 UTCI went and read the manga chapters for this episode, to better explain L's hypothesis for a 2nd Kira. The victims predicted in the tape were just celebrities caught with drugs, arguably more minor than even a purse snatcher as a criminal, furthermore the only information about them was aired on tabloid shows. Normal Kira would have just predicted one of his daily victims and as they already explained it makes sense a 2nd Kira would choose victims the normal Kira wouldn't have killed before them. They also mention they don't think it is an upgrade to his power, bcs then he would have already killed major criminals whose names he couldn't find out before. I'm noticing, there are other minor details in conversations that are missing in the anime, as expected. Like the reason L thinks the 2nd Kira isn't as intelligent is explained in the previous chapter, it has to do with how she filmed the videos and recorded the audio, he explains in more detail what kinda mistakes she made, also because they found fingerprints like she didn't even consider that the police would get hold of the package, just too many amateurish mistakes. Even Light comments in the beginning that the reason this hurts Kira's image is, because the quality overall is so poor and sloppy.

2024-09-14 16:06:03 +0000 UTCI love your reactions and the fact that you constantly pause to dive further into the themes at hand, but sometimes you just have to chill for a moment and give the show a chance to explain 😅 if they then don't the go ahead, but lately I feel you've been quite quick to jump to the pause button only for things to be explained right after. Just a small piece of feedback from my personal preference, some others might like it just the way it is, so take it as you better see fit. ✌️

2024-09-13 23:07:52 +0000 UTCThe second kira did kill the innocent last episode. When has the real kira killed people simply because they didn't agree with what he did and for no other reason. The real kira has killed innocent people but only those opposed to him or who committed a crime however light (like purse snatching).

Certainly something a realistically intelligent actor would have to consider and then rule out, but here I saw it as more so the writers filling in reasoning for a conclusion both they and the audience already know. Not to accuse the explaination of being lazy, but to their credit, it is quite difficult to write characters that feel organically intelligent and explain their reasoning without sounding like a droning exposition dump.

2024-09-13 12:55:02 +0000 UTCAnd L's reaction fits him perfectly I'd argue, bc that means he cant solve the case because of factors outside his control. L is not an actor on behalf of morality or justice, he doesnt actually care about any of that. He just wants to solve the puzzle and win.

Ukita and never asks for L's name because 2nd Kira doesnt need it- I watched in dub but im sure they said this much. Different paramters for kill suggests different person, or that Kira got an upgrade, but the personality difference, points to hypothesis 1

2024-09-13 12:45:51 +0000 UTCIt would make sense for Misa to believe the video tape because nobody other than Kira should know that she’s a fake Kira. Imagine you’re anonymous on the internet and you tell everyone you’re Banksy. You provide proof that most people should believe to back up your claim. Then someone still comes out and says “that dude is a liar, I’m the real Banksy.” As the impostor, you’d probably believe him.
