Hi! Welcome to August, exciting times ahead as I gear up to release my next project.
This month of samples is inspired by another collection of works-in-progress. Keeping it playful yet functional with looping reversing stumbling percussive sequences built up to full loops, designed oneshot drums, and naturalistic fx sounds. I'd list the amazing back catalogue of Ilian Tape as the main influences.
Hope you enjoy!

While I was planning for my NTS Residency I trawled through old folders for forgotten gems. There was something quite charming, cyberpunk gothic, about this club track I wrote back in 2020. Having been part of a collection that included the infamous 'Pumping' and 'Gutenberg' briefly it ended up collecting dust since.
This remaster targets the dynamics and the shape of the sounds in the mix, getting it all a bit more pleasantly crispy and controlled. I hope you like it !!

Hi all, I've just returned from a four-day trip around Brussels and for Audioriver Festival, latter of which was sadly cancelled and evacuated due to weather conditions. Big thanks to everyone I met out there regardless and hope to see more of you at my Netherlands dates next week!
I've brought out seven older tunes from the Patreon that were otherwise not up for download, including a pack exclusive which brings back Autechre-style ambient techno drums and a playful leadline.

This has been a long awaited tutorial for my Patreon supporters, but they might be surprised by the route I've taken on this 90-minute masterclass on all things low-end.
I wanted to put forward an accessible yet detailed perspective on creating bass, as a paradigm of adding and subtracting frequencies and signals. I also posited the idea that it's simply about using sounds that have good low frequency content, and trying to bring out the best characteristics out of those sounds.

Here is the Patreon Exclusive second part of the bass design masterclass. This part delves into basslines I've written for tracks unreleased and released, in context with their respective drumloops. This will hopefully show the complete picture of the rhythm section and legitimize decisions made in the mixing & writing. I also hope you enjoy this deep dive segment and find value in these insights!

Hi all, as I've got a busy month ahead I've decided to kick into gear and prepare for you (finally) my masterclass on bass & bass design for dance music.
The aim is to keep it accessible to viewers of all levels of knowledge, focus on the fundamentals of the low end, and show sound design & arrangement insights that I've used in creating bass. I truly believe that it doesn't have to be difficult or overcomplicated - bass is just bass!

Hi all, I've decided to bring back a pack containing the best of my older samples & music.
How much would you be willing to pay for a pack of about 240 samples containing mainly sequences of drums, synths, bass & fx?

A transportive cut of astral jungle with playful synths among samples among drums. This one was an ugly duckling out of all my unreleased tracks, but it's been given a good balance of weight and colour in the mix and finished up for bright summer days.

Keeping it simple but evocative this month with a dose of drum hits/loops, bass hits/loops, and synthlines. Gritty and warmed through but hopefully still very functional for building out ideas, writing instrument or even vocal parts on top.

Hi all, this remix ended up being quite interesting to delve into as it involved a lot of hardware parts, recordings, & using digital tools to trace over the musical characteristics of those recorded bass & fx sounds. One hour of ideas, how to use certain plugins, why I use certain plugins, and mixing bits - it's definitely a more technical session this time!
Session on Bass is up next, I'll be kicking that off with a session of me designing bass on my Korg Monologue!

Back in October I was approached by Kasra for a remix of my choice off his album 'Dream Metal'. Two versions later I wrapped this remix in late January, which landed somewhere between a 00s grime fever dream and hard techno.
In this next session I'll be showing all the sound design pieces, samples and stylistic mixing decisions that came together in this collage piece.

Tomorrow is the first broadcast for my residency at NTS and I'm really thrilled to kick it off with my good friends at PEROXIIDE. 60 minutes of Autonomic-Footwork-Junglist Aerospace Exploration!
I'm also doing a little hangout for the broadcast of my NTS Residency, starting 15 minutes before the broadcast! Come hang with me if you've got the time and hope you like the tunes.

We've reached two years of Patreon! I might put up something special to celebrate.
But first we have more samples for your use. Some really functional loop layers that are extractable with phase cancellation, some low end oddities made using my Korg Monologue, and for the first time ever polyphonic melodic samples with outboard delay and reverb!
I hope to talk more about these new developments sometime, hope you enjoy these.

I wrote this one for therapeutic purposes during last October. A sort of mesmerizing collage of washboard drums, cozy rhodes keyboards and spaced-out synth bass and lead.

Hi all, if you're looking for more reasons to join the Patreon besides exclusive tracks, 12+ hours of tutorials, and behind the scenes content, here's a little reel of some samples I've created over the past 6 months!
My idea with samples is to get in as much inspiring detail and intrigue into them while still allowing individual hits and isolated parts to be extracted and utilized from them.
A little preview pack has been provided for you. I hope you will consider supporting my ...

Rationale:
A tonally destructive way of synthesis can open up new possibilities and bring about unique textures
Understanding and harnessing the processing behind atonal synthesis can allow for musical objects that constantly change and morph
Using compression, filtering, delays, we can generate new detail that works for and against the element of chaos. It's also something fun to do!

In this re-recorded segment originally held in the last Patreon hangout, I sift through a disco-inspired drum loop with a fine toothed comb, talking about the details of sample selection and arrangement, breaking out of the pre-made grooves of samples, setting up a space for your drums to function as one instrument.
The other parts of the production are also discussed, with more sample manipulation, adding to them with other synths and instruments.

I took a little time today reminiscing on my old "shitpost era" works, the reckless silly energy I had, and was growing out of during the pandemic years.
I wanted to shed some light on a track I wrote in January 2022. It was very tongue in cheek and the original version I posted as a Patreon exclusive in July 2022 had been long forgotten. Rightfully so because it was mixed like garbage.
Here's a new version that I've just posted onto Soundcloud for a laugh. Download is in the att...

'Antiprojection' has been in my sets for nearly a year, and was written for a now-scrapped project. A simple but effective cut of club-electro that has affinities for dubstep, garage or techno in the mix - more music to feed to your USBs. I felt it appropriate to put this out at a time where I've been writing way more home-listening music, just to keep things chugging along.
Hope you enjoy!

You may have noticed I'm giving away this bit a day earlier... No mistake, I wanted to speak to you about plans for the near future.
I'd like to do a Patreon session on 'noisecraft', the way noise is manipulated to create sounds. We'll be looking through sounds in my collection new and old for this. Date to be confirmed.
I'd also like to redo the Patreon recording from last month, as I've suffered unfortunate technical issues with it and that stops me from sharing it with you. T...

I was going to hold this hangout earlier in the month, but I was affected by illness. To make it up for you all I'll be combining the two topics I wanted to talk about: A track breakdown of my space-disco mix of Disclosure - BOSS, and some additional ideas for synth design, synth ambient music. All in all, more ways to get "analogue" flavour out of your DAW and soft synths.

Hi all! Bringing something out from the vault again that still feels timely. Dogma sources an instantly-recognizable Michael Jackson sample & gives it a no-war, fuck-the-government treatment. Blinding helicopter break choppage and rapid drum rolls confined between the subs and rumbles.

Updated version as of March 2024 - Added new insight, original midis, bonus look at a synths in an unreleased track with this re-recording.
The IKEA showroom for synth patches: monophonic vs polyphonic expression, synthesis, articulation, onboard and post-processing. The largest of voicings and multi-octave riffs as well as deep rumbling low end created entirely in the box, but also the minute clicks and pops of deliberately imperfect sound design. These techniques have been my go-to fo...

Hey all! More abstract designs here for you - I tried to create or derive a lot of the tones and textures in these samples by myself. There's a lot of comb-filtered synths and noisy metallic tones, like in my industrial-tinged offerings last month, but all rounded off with more melody and more "riffs" to fill in ideas with.
Hope you enjoy!

Nursery-rhyme toy-keyboard astral-neogrime.
There is a childlike purity within this track with a counterpoint of deep sub rumbles and whirring reese bass. I wrote this one after my first busy summer of gigs (Sept. 2022), with little foresight of what was to come from music and life overall. So I experimented, with this tune but also other tracks that saw official releases, like 'Stockholm', 'Mile Run', and 'Insecure'.
I could not say I was ever fully prepared for the next th...

Rarely have I taken a proper dive into my record collection (all digital, mind), but with the recent VISION Radio co-host I did I felt it very appropriate to look into the artists whose work I showcased in the episode.
A good look & celebration of the artists' output, and a little bit more about the music of 'The B' EP in-situ. Not a particularly rigorous or structured session, just sit back and enjoy the music and commentary!
With love.
