Attack on Titan 4x24

The end is nigh. Also, yes, I will get a haircut tomorrow xD

I had the same interpretation as well, completely agree!

Russell Gambardella

The scene between Mikasa and Louise is very open to interpretation because don't get the inner monologue for either character, but my reading is that Mikasa sees herself in Louise and doesn't like what she sees. She sees someone who completely devoted their life to someone else to the point of worship. Someone who is willing to die for their object of worship without a second thought, even if it would go against the wishes of that person. I think that in that scene, Mikasa realizes how she must look herself and, at least on some level, wants to get away from that image asap.

I’m not caught up with your reactions yet (just got to season 4) so I apologize if you’ve talked about this in this episode as I have not seen it yet. The scene where Armin reunites with Annie is a festival with a lot of Eldians celebrating victory and the demise of their enemy. To me, this is directly paralleled with early season 4 where Marleyans celebrated the defeat of their enemies with their “devil army,” and Magath talking to Wilbur about how Marleyans are content to reading about their wars and victories in newspapers and have never experienced bullets whizzing by them, and that it’s better that it’s Eldians that are dying in the frontlines. It reminds me in a way of how civilians on Paradis used to treat the scouts before season 3 part 2. And of course now the Rumbling titans are the “devil army” set to defeat their enemies and expand their lands. Another reason I highlight the civilians here is because it’s another example of how Marley came to be a hundred years ago. And outside of the military extremists like Floch, the transformation of Paradis is not really in your face. The entire festival scene revolved around Annie and Armin. The Eldians there are just normal, non-evil people, who are celebrating global genocide. And it’s all just part of the setting, it’s now “normal.”

My Toasty Toast

I’ve heard someone say “onion coupon.”

My Toasty Toast

The still not being able to remember Onyankopon is hilarious to me XD It's almost become a running joke

You could argue that Floch has allways had Sociopathic tendencies. And he used that new World view of his to let them free, simiöar zo some Psychopaths from the Painter Peoples time, which got the floor to do whatever f'd up shit came to their minds. But yeah, I generally agree

Fucsiada

I do think Floch is better wirtten, but Joffrey has always been a sociopath and kind of inbred so he really couldnt have been written in a way for him to be liked by anyone lol, while Floch has actual reasonings and goals in his own perverted way.

Nikola Spasic

it's understandable why people angry to Mikasa the way she acts here, but I think it's intentional since we know how Mikasa acts sometimes. We can see how Jean interact with Floch, he doesn't support Floch's views but still worries about his life and Floch not even dying like Louise. Louise threw her life away because of Mikasa, but Mikasa did not aknacknowledge it - and this whole situation is not right - we can say it's only Louise fault but it's complicated Same we can say about Ymir how she threw life for Fritz and he didn't acknowledge it, we cant say it is on Ymir I think Mikasa should tell Louise at least something kind in the end :( here she is just cruel

puremetalcore

Totally agree! I do think that AoT shaped the character better, with reasoning behind it. instead of just making him unlikable from the get go, they explained his reasonings and how he turned out to be. How ever, at this point in time, I don't see the difference between the two of them. They only stand they're point and refuse to think otherwise, hence why they have to go. I never really understood people that sympathized with Floch in season 4. just as eren, he turned out to be an selfish A-hole, and thats my opinion

Fucsiada

however, the difference between Joffrey and Floch is that a section of the AOT fandom actually liked Floch and waited for him to win unfortunately LOL. In GOT i always knew who the antagonist was, while in AOT you can argue we don't know who the antagonists really are since the alliance are doing some morally grey things as well.

skitalks

and I mean if someone oyu care about basically starts a nuclear war and you're trying to deal with that and someone else thinks "thats so cute, I wanna be like you" then "wtf leave me the fuck alone" is just the most appropriate response

HAL

28:40 most importantly you have to make sure that everyone understands that anyone who goes against you will be shot in his situation thats kinda the only way to not get overthrown in turn, its the curse of revolutions and coutnerrevolutions

HAL

Yes, I agree mikasa didn’t owe her anything. She already saved her life once. It’s not like they were friends or anything yet she just thinks it’s ok to take her scarf. Lol

Killua’s Mom

I like this comparison. Every episode Joffrey would come on would make me so angry lol i was just waiting for his end to come

Killua’s Mom

the walls are huge, if all the wall titans basically form an odderly line to leave the walls at one point and go out and all the other titans in the walls go along hte walls to that point and then follow from there it takes a while for the whole wall to follow along

HAL

22:00 I mean imagine your life being completely fucked and someone you only interacted with for like 2 seconds turning into a hardcore fan interpreting stuff into that and wanting to be like that while you're just trying to deal with it it's kinda understandable ot be pissed at that and then just go away so you don't do any more damage it's kinda on louise that she threw her life away because of mikasa after mikasa saved her

HAL

on a lighter note which isn't a spoiler anymore, shipping pieck with hanji makes way more sense than yelena to me yelena can go die alone

HAL

20:20 there was actually a conversation, I think it was at the end of season 1 or somewhere in season 2, way before eren sees the future where eren tells mikasa the scarf has seen better days and he can get a new one but she wants to keep it

HAL

louise and the other younger jaegerists being season 1 callbacks and basically being main characters fans kinda puts every scene where they save/inspire the next generation and the whole story of the first half in a way darker light, regardless of wether you relate to the main cahracters or to them as fans of the same characters in that first season

HAL

16:40 nah armin knew connie owuld save him he was just using this to make him understand how fucked up this is though I guess it could have goen wrong and he might have been okay with that

HAL

imagine a timeline where they have to recruit connies mom and explain why she's the colossal titan

HAL

I mean he has a bit more of a psychological background initially he just ends up turning into a complete asshole

HAL

I don't think connie bought the toothbrushing for a second he was just not sure if he can really do anything or if he should jsut let it happen

HAL

I like to compare Floch with Joffrey from GoT. He gets to the point where we get that he is the "Asshole" character and there is not much to him. If he doesn't get killed the Fanbase might hate it, so there almost allways has to be an painfull end to them, to meet the watchers expectations. it would be a shit move to let those characters win. but an interesting approach to say the least

Fucsiada

Reminds me of a line from Fallout : "Everyone is trying to save the world, they just never agree on how." (probably not the exact wording but the sentiment is right)

Anna Kyruin

For some reason I thought he is asking about time period when he learned about it

puremetalcore

We know that (according to Floch himself) he met with eren and learned of his plan. My guess at this point was that that was when he learned.

daragh faro

"To save the world" is a important line that the warriors told themselves and what Magath told his soldiers. And now the scouts are saying those words... it's a great line thematically if you think it about it more. I could go on about this more but I feel like it would get into spoilers.

skitalks

But we learned at least when he already knew about spinal fluid in vine - when they all meet in restaurant when they wanted to find out where is Zeke

puremetalcore

We don't know yet when Floch learned about Yelena plan
