Attack on Titan 4x05

So it begins, I guess? =D

Attack on Titan 4x05

Comments

there was pletny infighting within the walls after the colossal titna appeared in season one back then pixis told eren the story that "some wise man once said if the world had a common enemy people would unite against" which they both seemed to agree was silly

HAL

just getting memories from two people living at the same time in differnet places with different perspctives contradicting each others assumptions must be mindbending

HAL

25:55 gotta catch them all

HAL

aside from the deeper implications theres also that fun psychological arc of eren telling reiner they are the same, reiner wanting to be killed and eren forgiving him - thus also forgiving himself in advance since he just said they're the same

HAL

they would likely start a chain reaction, once one of htem walks out there the next one would probably be uncovered also, imagine the horror of being a random dude and getting turned into part of a wall for a hundred years

I have to add that at some levels I think Reiner also wanted to be forgiven. Reiner has built such an idea in his mind that he is a terrible person and deserved death, he came back from Paradis and was praised for his actions so in turn he is also looking to be judged. I would say on a subconscious level thought its clear that he wants to be truly forgiven by his old friends.

Still catching up to your earlier reactions, but this may have been my favorite directed episode. There was so much intention with character movements timed with the speech. Reiner rising to shake hands with Eren who is acknowledging himself as Reiner’s equal, while Willy’s speech talks about defeating the Eldians on Paradis. Falco’s reaction the whole episode was mine when I first watched this

Oh one more thing! I think Bert’s assertion that he thinks the hanged man wanted to be judged, not forgiven, is very important. It’s actually very ironic. Reiner hated himself to such a depth, and had to hate himself in solitude for all his years back in Marley after he returned, that I believe he too wanted Erin to hate and judge him. It’s weirdly twisted that Erin’s forgiveness of Reiner was the exact opposite of what Reiner wanted in that moment. Even his plea, “Didn’t you say you would make us suffer and die in the worst way possible?” was a desperate way to try and get Erin to judge him and to stop being so forgiving.

For "how could there be so many Colossal Titans within the walls if there is only one Colossal Titan", I believe a reasonable guess and most people's assumption at this point-- combined with, at the beginning of Season 2, Pastor Nick's ALARMED insistence that they HAD to keep the exposed Wall Titan away from sunlight-- is that the titans within the walls are quite nearly the size and stature of Colossal Titans, but they are still immortal "Pure Titans" without sentience as opposed to the sentient "Colossal Titan" that's one of the Nine with a 13-year lifespan. The Wall Titans would presumably be driven by their instincts unless beholden to the Founding Titan's specific commands. In other words, if they hadn't covered up the exposed Wall Titan with thick sewn-together blankets before sunlight hit it and restored its energy, there's a chance that enormous Titan would have simply broken free and started trying to mindlessly eat people, possibly accidentally breaking more of its brethren free with it.

Correct me if I’m wrong in my assumption, but I just wanted to clarify something, since I’ve gotten the impression a few times that you assume when someone inherits a Titan they immediately have access to all previous memories. It’s been hinted at a few times in this show that’s not really the case. Erin of course took years to start remembering even things from the person directly before him (Grisha). Also, in 4x2, Reiner asks Porco if he remembers Marcel’s memories, and he says he doesn’t, just some stuff from Ymir. So, it’s unlikely that Reiner, as you said in this episode, fully knew the whole truth from 100 years back just because he has the armored Titan. If anything, it seems more rare than common to remember past memories as Titan. My assumption for how the Tybur’s know so much from so far back is because they’ve kept detailed written documents of what each successive War Hammer holder remembers, thus preserving far more than what the current one can usually recall. Just wanted to clarify, since that might affect your theories going forward. Love your reactions as always!

I like to think if Aliens invaded we might all band together but really who knows 🤔🤔🤔 (amazing reaction as always, can't wait for you to get further into the season 😉)

Johnuh

Or any world wars - they're will be always people who really try save humanity (it definitely united) and people who see benefits in war, and simple people who just want to survive
