Which is already insane in itself. Ten years. Thorfinn has already spent nearly double the amount of time in his life with Askeladd than he did with the father he's trying to avenge.

2024-04-16 19:20:10 +0000 UTCIn the manga thorfinn actually doesn't say anything about vinland to Hordaland. If you remember, episode seven is actually the first chapter of the story. This is the second, up until that conversation. Horda talks about escaping the same as in the anime, but adds asentence at the end: "somewhere that's not here." From there the flashback starts to thorfinn's childhood with a -10 years earlier- and begins with the story leif told in episode 1, ending the chapter with "...we called that land: Vinland." It's a good example of the anime improving on the source, as I think the sequence of events has a bigger emotional impact as opposed to the manga. As a sidenote, this also confirms thorfinn's age here as being sixteen, since he was six in the first episode and that's 10 years ago. In case you lost track of all the years.

2024-04-15 21:54:21 +0000 UTCI always cry at the scene with Hordaland where Thorfinn tells about Vinland. You can see for a moment the shell of himself he's made fall away and the real him there. With Hordaland herself, I think Thorfinn does need someone like her but he's not ready for it yet. I don't mean as a love interest; I mean as a person. Thorfinn needs someone to balance him and someone to counter him. But right now he's still too much a slave to the idea of revenge and he's still too immature.
