If you do, you will probably understand how and when it works. The Kanji are for tamatebako btw. Don't mention me by name though 😅

In my opinion, the two strongest early hints happen in the castle episode, where during the Ymir/Reiner canned food scene Reiner says, “And I didn’t think you had any interest in men.” Then later, when Krista rips her skirt to bandage Reiners arm, Ymir says, “Oh by the way Krista, I also cut my hand”, implying she wants Krista’s attention and/or wants her to keep ripping her skirt shorter. So it’s never outright shown or stated, but there are hints there.
