Utgard is a place name that comes from Norse. It would mean like "the outer holds" or "the outer lands". Utgard in Norse mythology referred to the lands surrounding a giant (jotun) stronghold/castle, as well as the castle utgard itself which was inhabited by a giant called "Utgard Loki" or "Loki of the Outlands"
