2023-12-30 17:20:10 +0000 UTCYes, I love the way demons are portrayed here. The are purely self-centred if I read them correctly. Such a refreshing take. Really scary that they do not understand social concepts it seems. I assume that Linie and Draht are only with Lügner for some kind of personal gain or safety. Can't wait to watch 8 and see how they interact in the end. =) But I agree, they are scary as they are basically sociopaths or psychopath of the highest order. =(

2023-12-30 11:49:26 +0000 UTCThe interesting or rather scary part about demons in Frieren is that while they certainly can easily characterized as evil from the view of humans is that it seems that they lack malevolence per se. For example in this episode: the little Demon Girl tried to make peace with the village by replaceing the girl she ate. But the problem is that Demons lack a understanding of human values and don't value Human life. How could they? Humans are prey for them and they are the predators. Is a crocodile evil because it uses camouflage to ambush water bufallos and other animals coming down to the water? And that is the scary part for me about them. There is something on the same intelligence Level here that can actually talk with me and has no problems to kill me. Not because it wants to see me suffer, no. Because it wants to eat me and that is in its nature. I am just food for it. Btw. I would prefer an explanation video about the German Terms after the first half of the season.
