She was always meant to play guitar.
She's the guitarist of the WornDown Children.
She feels a lot and she's awful at hiding it, now matter how hard she tries, and she tries.
She always feels like she's waiting for something. God knows what.
Even now she's figuring out how to be herself.
When she was 15 she fell in love with a friend of hers in highschool.
A girl named Anna that a year after that would have become a mother and marry her highschool sweetheart and father of the kid. In that order.
Diana started writing songs during that time. At first they were supposed to be heard by none until she was contacted by Zara and Liliana. Two girls she had befriended at a small music school when they were younger. They were making music too.
Over time more people joined the effort and the band was complete.
Diana met music very early as, when she was born, her grandfather's wish of having at least one of his grandkids inherit his passion finally came true.
They were very close, he taught her a lot. He gave living from music a try when he was young, but raising a family made him put a long pause on that. Now she will succeed where he failed, he thinks. Or she won't. Honestly he’s just happy seeing her giving it a try.
She was born ten years after her younger brother and 15 after the oldest. So she was raised by them as much as by her parents.
She currently lives with two of her bandmates. Zara and Liliana, now Lil.
…
And thus it has come full circle. With this I have finished the band’s core group’s reference sheets though I'm thinking about doing Tak’s as well as she hangs out with them a lot anyway and it’d be useful.
This Diana description I had already written before so that was the easiest part of making this.
In fact, this has been maybe the easiest reference sheet of this series to make because of the experience. The hardest part of this would have been her fur patron.
In fact I innovated a bit on that because this time I kind of tried to make her spots symmetrical like Hyena's are supposed to be.
You can look at old pictures of her and notice that other than the neck and shoulder I pay absolutely no attention to the symmetry of her spots. Not only that, the spots pattern never really has any consistency and it's always changing from one picture to the next.
It's not that I'm lazy it's actually a conscious decision I made at the beginning as it represents the ever changing nature of being (and also in part out of laziness tbh but not only) and worry not! Even though we now technically have an official fur pattern I will continue to draw it however I feel like at the moment in the future.
Also, when I said that I kind of tried making her spots symmetrical, I meant that I was doing that but got bored and forgot about it in some part at the end anyway.
But there is a change that will probably stay though! The complications on the clear part of her fur pattern.
Those were always there since the beginning but when I made the first band reference sheets of the band I simplified them to make it look more cartoony. Those complications will change depending on how I draw her though.
Another changes I made here from the original is that I made her spots a bit less dark and gave her a zipper hoodie.
Also she's a bit taller now! See, While reviewing my old sheets I noticed that Zara was taller than Diana in them (Not counting ears) and that to me is insane! Maybe I wasn't paying that much attention to height back then or made a last minute decision that I forgot about later but apparently I "Mandela-ed" myself.
And it's not like I really pay attention to those things species wise (Lil the cat is still shorter than Zara the finch) but having a hyena being smaller than a bird is kinda weird.
Anyway, that's Diana for you.
