Taj y Ale

Oh, miren! Son los Sujetos!

Ustedes ya ni se han de acordar pero yo solía tener un par de personajes aventureros, trotamundos, cazatesoros, mata nazis y cazarrecompensas. Y estos son ellos! Taj y Alex! 

Pero por desgracia no los dibujo tanto como podría/quisiera/debería. 

Esta es una idea que tengo desde el año pasado cuando vi a varios artistas mexicanos que sigo, dibujando a sus personajes con temática de la Revolución Mexicana y pensé, “Rayos, eso se ve divertido” y no solo eso, además tengo los personajes perfectos para eso.

Esto es de un boceto que tenía guardado desde hace un par de meses y que, por motivo de haberme enfermado del estómago el otro día y haberme quedado en cama un rato, al fin tuve tiempo de terminar. Y no solo eso, también tuve tiempo de hacer un par de cosillas extra jugando con este concepto, pero eso será para después.

Al principio pensé que esto podría ser parte de una aventura de los personajes originales en México, del estilo de cuando Indiana Jones conoció a Pancho Villa. Pero mientras más pensé en ello decidí que, de la misma manera que Los niños Viejos tienen un Universo Alternativo que dibujó en el día de la independencia donde son una banda de mariachis en los 60/70, esta imagen forma parte de un universo alternativo que quizás dibuje a veces donde Alex y Taj nacieron en México a tiempo para pelear en la revolución además de tener otras aventuras.

Alejandra Caballero consigue conservar su nombre en esta continuidad pero Taj Tyler pasa a ser Taj Tellez y aunque esto no es un rebooteo permanente, si habrá más de estos tipos pronto. No mucho pero alguito. Por lo mientras me da gusto Al Fin haberlos desempolvado.

Oh! Look! It’s the guys!

You may not even remember, but I used to have a couple of adventurous, globetrotting, treasure-hunting, Nazi-killing, and bounty-hunting characters. And these are them! Taj and Alex!

But unfortunately, I don't draw them as much as I could/would/should.

This is an idea I've had since last year when I saw several Mexican artists I follow drawing their characters with a Mexican Revolution theme, and I thought, "Wow, that looks fun." And not only that, I also have the perfect characters for it.

This is from a sketch I've had saved for a couple of months, and because I got sick to my stomach the other day and stayed in bed for a while, I finally had time to finish it. And not only that, I also had time to do a few extra things playing with this concept, but that'll be for later.

At first, I thought this might be part of an adventure for the original characters in Mexico, similar to when Indiana Jones met Pancho Villa. But the more I thought about it, I decided that, in the same way that The Worn Down Children has an alternate universe they drew on Independence Day where they're a mariachi band in the 60s and 70s, this image is part of an alternate universe I might draw sometimes where Alex and Taj were born in Mexico in time to fight in the revolution in addition to having other adventures.

Alejandra Caballero gets to keep her name in this continuity, but Taj Tyler becomes Taj Tellez, and while this isn't a permanent reboot, there will be more of these guys soon. Not much, but something. In the meantime, I'm glad to have finally dusted them off.
