Or.
The band gets groceries and stuff.
Also Diana gets high and another secret thing I'm still not saying yet, but there are some clues I guess…
Based on real events, as in, we all have gone to buy groceries and started fooling around the store while our friends were waiting in the parking lot right and then got high by accident. Am I right, fellas?
Here's the second batch of pages for my long comic and the stakes just got raised a bit.
Like, of course Lil forgot she had her dad's “meds” with her and all that, but I mean for me, I had to draw a whole crowd for the line page, not to mention the background behind them. That one panel took me a whole day at least, but apparently I'm insane. That one and the Tony on the security camera have been the hardest panels so far.
The bad part is unlike last comic I didn't get to put Waldo somewhere. Yet?
Unfortunately there's only one register working as the store is getting close to it's closing time. See, I had a plan for the title after all. So the Worn Down Children’ adventure isn't really close to being over.
A fun detail for this comic is that I'm starting to tease the existence of regular animals in this world. I haven't really shown one but you can see small signs of their existence here, like a chicken on the chicken soup can, or, while blocked by a hand, a horse in the Don Quijote painting at Tony's parents home, and a cartoon fish on Lil’s box of “candies”.
I'm taking a moment to mention that there are no anthro fish nor sea creatures in the Worn Down Children’s universe, cause that sort of thing usually gets messy, as it suggests an underwater Atlantis-like civilization somewhere and I'd like to keep this world more down to earth grounded for now.
Now, speaking of Tony's parents, I finally got them to appear in something. Yeah, sad story, they got married too young and too soon, they tried to make it work for Tony but in the end it didn't.
Another world building detail is the boots Diana is trying out. Not to get over-explainy but there are shoes in this world but they're like an optional thing. They can be used as a fancy thing or for more practical reasons, which could explain why the cops on “Band on the run” use them.
The music urban legends make a comeback on this batch as in the end I did end up putting the “In the air tonight” one there. It was that one or Klatuuh secretly being the Beatles but I went with this one because it's darker. More in line with the one's Zara was telling before.
And lastly Zara and RJ are just chilling in the van, staring at the roof. Here I got to show just a bit of Zara's anxieties that I don't show often because I think she doesn't either. She always try to stay positive.
And that's it for now, tune in for the continuation of this adventure… next month, I hope…
Also I've been thinking this one could use a cover page.
