Davo and Tina Story so far

Not to make him sound like a dummy but the library isn't a place Davo visits often. But Tina does and especially considering she's currently still working on her thesis, so Davo has been going there more and more lately if anything just to hang out with her even if it is in silence.

I think she finished her work for today and now they're just resting.

At first this just started as a composition that I came up with, but I realized while I worked on this that this could be one of the dynamics with these two. And especially for Davo to find the times to be together. With Tina having a full time job and all of that. 

He works at night, she works in the morning and while she can go to his concerts, he can't go to her classroom. That would seem weird. Lol

This piece marks a sort of redemption for me. It comes from a concept I used for an old piece featuring these two that I kind of hate.

I was going to post it here anyway a couple of weeks ago but I just couldn't. I thought about fixing it but I realized it would be easier to make one I liked better instead. 

I will post it soon and what I'm saying here will seem a bit hyperbolic but just to tease what I mean, it's just too generic for my own taste.

This one instead feels more like the characters even if it is a bit simple. 

Fun story about the rug they're laying on, is that it's not actually from a Library but from a movie theater. And it's my rug, kinda. It's one of the old rugs they used to have in Cinemark theaters, the one in my town was bought by a different chain and went through renovations years ago. 

A couple weeks later my uncle was selling pieces of the rug, which I'm not sure how he got, I guess he may have worked on the renovations but I'm not sure. The point is I got a piece of the old movie theater rug, my mom hates it but I love it. I need to get it cleaned though.

Besides that anecdote, I chose that rug because of the kind of retro design. For some reason I've been trying lately to make evident that the 80s did happen in the universe my characters live in. Like the seats in the old movie theater, or the rug in the old library.

The title I chose from this piece is the last verse from Peter Gabriel’s song “Secret World” which accidentally does fit the piece but I just chose it for the “Shhh… listen - library” connection. I'm not sure if that's what they're hearing through their headphones. But if they are, it has to be one of the live versions cause the studio version is too quiet for these two. Those headphones have to be blasting.

Speaking of, I chose to have a discman in the piece instead of a phone, which would make sense in this day and age, because that would be boring. Phones are just black squares now. And I know it would be boring because I actually sketched a phone and I felt the need to give the picture more texture with a discman.

But I think I can justify it in universe, Davo and Tina are totally the type of music nerds to complain that you just can't get good sound through an mp3, which to be fair is true. So yeah, I think it's possible Tina carries a discman and some records in her purse. Maybe not always but at least to the library.
