Feeding The Fire

We all have been thinking it but I'm finally saying it, the long nightmare is finally over. The band is playing again.

And with this I mean that it had been a good while since I drew them playing as a band. They of course have been doing it “out of camera” but we haven't seen it. Until now.

Actually, that's not completely true. I have drawn them while playing but I hadn't posted them.

There's not a lot of story for this piece. It's either the band playing in a club or maybe a shot of a music video they're recording or maybe both.

Now, please, Do not pay attention to the drumset arrangement, but if you did, please note that Davo hasn't become left-handed since the last time we've seen him. I just forgot to flip back his layer and didn't notice until it was too late in the process.

Now, some of you may be familiar with my crusade to find a software that works for me as good or better than Photoshop, and I had been wanting to try out Procreate for a while. But there was a problem with that idea. I didn't own an iPad.

But a couple of months ago when they announced Procreate Dreams I knew that the moment had come for me to get it.

So this is my third drawing done on procreate. The first one was just a doodle to try it out and I'm not going to be posting the second one for reasons but this one was the real test.

And it works really well. Unfortunately it's lacking a couple of key features that form part of my current style. Mainly degrading and masked groups. Also the layer limit on each file is a bit of a problem. I reached it three times while making this. But otherwise is great. Easily the second best for me so far, the perspective tool is actually an improvement on my current techniques and the ability to draw anywhere is a very welcomed one.

What I'm trying to say is that now I've become at least 30% more powerful.

And I'm really excited to procreate dreams that actually launch today, so hopefully wait for more animations from me.

But before that, I just finally cleared some stuff from my to-do list, it's time to get back to doing some comics. I got two sketched ones i'm excited about.
