Or.
“The gang straight up dies!”*
“Note: The whisperers depicted here are not the same character as the one in my usual drawings. They will never be seen again.”
I mean, Nicole is smart enough to know you never mess with the Grimace.
Good News everyone! I took some time between commissions to make something pretty stupid.
Wanted to get off that Grimace milkshake killing trend because it was pretty much tailor made for the Whisperers. Unfortunately, I seem to know no boundaries and Kind of over did the whole thing.
See, the main reason for these pictures to be in Black and White is because this originally was going to be sketches, Like the ones I’ve posted before. It was going to be a quick and silly thing, but I started having fun with it, and it ended up like this.
I mean, it’s not like they’re full of paintings, but they did end up way more detailed than what I had in mind.
But anyway, here it is. It all began when the guys had a free night and took some Mcdonalds to fan favorite character (?) Ian the Librarian who makes his first appearance since last year.
I swear I didn’t forget about him. He’s just busy at the library. But they hang out with him a lot on weekends lol.
This piece made me realize that, unlike with the band, I almost never draw the whisperers just hanging out. Though that makes sense in the end. The whole concept of them is their job lol.
Ignacio is the one taking the picture of course.
And a final interesting fact is that Nicole’s picture in the missing poster is based on an old Mexican urban legend, later turned creepypasta.
See, channel 5 on open mexican tv aired a community service segment during the commercial breaks of the cartoons where they’d air the faces and names of missing persons and the last place where they were seen. They did this in hopes of helping them to be found, but I’ve always believed they also did it in order to scare the kids in a “Don’t talk to strangers” kind of way. They still do it today but now through a more discrete banner on the side of the screen.
The legend says that a woman named Selene Delgado appeared on and off on these ads for over a decade and it became this mystery of, “did she even exist?”, “Why does she keep appearing in these ads?” and then the Channel started posting some memes on twitter about it some years ago. There’s some theories of her being an invention of the channel to make the kids pay attention. I honestly can’t even confirm if she did in fact appear in the ads as much as some people say. Never paid that much attention. But it’s one of those early fun things to think about.
Final final detail. That note I added near the beginning of the post is paraphrasing the translation of a note the author of JoJo’s bizarre adventure put below a minicomic where Josuke straight up murders some dudes on the street as an accident in order to make clear that those events weren’t canon. And the same applies here, don’t worry, this isn’t canon.
Anyway, I'll be posting this soon but I wanted you guys to see it first hopefully and also I wanted to write about it a bit. Don't worry, I'll be posting something kind of similar soon.
